Who can take over from LeBron James, Steph Curry, and Kevin Durant as the faces of the NBA when they retire? Robert Griffin III confidently named the Minnesota Timberwolves Anthony Edwards as the chosen one to lead basketball into a new era.
RG3’s statement popped up on social media after Edwards dropped 40 points against the Phoenix Suns in Game 4. The Timberwolves clean-swept the Suns, led by Kevin Durant (122-116), on Sunday night, booking their place in the next round.
Following a slow first half in which Edwards only contributed 9 points, the 22-year-old exploded in the second. He finished with 13 of 23 from the field and converted 7 of 13 three-point baskets.
The best moment of Edwards’ night arrived, with a little over two minutes left on the clock. After giving the Suns’ No. 3 the snake eyes, he lept over everyone and jammed the ball in with his right to extend the Wolves’ dominance.
RG3 opened his X account and wrote that Anthony Edwards is the next face of the NBA.

Anthony Edwards trolled Kevin Durant after the Wolves beat the Suns
There’s still a long way to go for Edwards to conquer the NBA. Before that, he has to team up with the likes of Durant and LeBron James for the upcoming Paris Olympics. All three are part of the USA men’s basketball team.
