“He should be sacked from all formats”- Fans left fuming as report claim Rohit Sharma will continue to lead India in Test despite WTC Final debacle

India suffered a humiliating defeat to Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final on Sunday (11 June). The Pat Cummins-led team defeated India by a massive 209 runs to lift their maiden WTC title while India continue to search for the first ICC trophy in the last ten years. With India losing the 2023 WTC Final, fans started demanding that Rohit Sharma must be sacked, at least from Test captaincy.

However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is mum after the defeat and nothing has been said so far. On top of that, the Indian cricket board is reportedly persisting with Sharma as the captain of Tests.

According to a PTI report, Rohit Sharma will lead Team India in the upcoming two-match Test series in the West Indies. BCCI might take a call on Rohit’s future as the Indian Test captain after this series as the Indian cricket board will have plenty of time to decide with India’s next Test series being scheduled for December.

The WTC Final defeat has hurt the Indian cricket team fans a lot and hence they are demanding the immediate removal of Rohit Sharma as the Test captain. As this report of Rohit leading the team in the West Indies emerged, fans lost their cool and started thrashing BCCI.

While a few suggested that Ajinkya Rahane should be made the interim captain, some want Sharma to be sacked from all formats.
