Reports suggest Steve Erceg vs Kai Kara-France in the works for UFC 305

Steve Erceg and Alexandre Pantoja‘s cordial relationship does not exist anymore. The two clashed earlier this May for the UFC flyweight title. While everything was good going into the fight, ‘The Cannibal’s comments post UFC 301 did not sit well with Erceg which he addressed in his recent interview.

Alexandre Pantoja previously made an appearance on the Show Me The Money podcast. There he made some comments about how ‘Astroboy’ “hit like a girl” at their UFC 301 title fight. Steve Erceg recently made an appearance on the MainEvent YouTube channel. There he addressed Pantoja’s comments.

He said some stuff about ‘I hit like a girl’ and that sort of stuff. If I hit like a girl, I don’t know what girls you’ve been around, but your face and your nose was bloodied up after the fight.

Erceg’s comments suggested that he is not friendly with the flyweight champion. He said he was going to do everything he could to work his way back. He had not been able to stomach the fact that ‘The Cannibal’ beat him even though he was so deficient in so many areas.

Erceg and Pantoja headlined the main event of UFC 301 at Rio de Janeiro. The fight went the distance and Pantoja ultimately came out on top by unanimous decision. This marked ‘The Cannibal’s sixth consecutive win while Erceg’s second career loss and first loss in the UFC. There are rumors that ‘Astroboy’ will return at UFC 305 in Australia to take on Kai Kara-France.

It has been over a year since Kai Kara-France stepped into the octagon. His last showdown was against #3 flyweight Amir Albazi. ‘Don’t Blink’ narrowly missed the win via split decision. He pushed for a rematch in Perth with Albazi, however he was left without an opponent.

Kai Kara-France previously did an interview with Sky Sports New Zealand. There he talked about how ‘Astroboy’ would be an ideal opponent for his comeback fight.

I feel like Steve would be a great dance partner – somewhere close to home. He’s from Perth, so I know the hometown boy will get a lot of hype. Fans want to see him fight.

The fight card for UFC 305 has not made its way to the public yet. People know that the event will be headlined by Dricus Du Plessis and Israel Adesanya with the middleweight title on the line. Who else is set to appear in the octagon at the RAC Arena later this August? We’ll have to wait until Dana White makes the official announcement.
