Cinema has caught the attention of Ciryl Gane which was why he refused to fight Tom Aspinall in Manchester. Aspinall talked about his potential UFC 304 opponent in a recent interview. The interim heavyweight champion is curious about Ganeโ€™s movie interest.

Tom Aspinall recently sat down for a conversation with The Mac Life. During their discussion, Aspinall talked about Cyril Gane rejecting him for UFC 304.

I don’t know. It’s difficult to say like, if he’s getting load, I don’t know what his aspirations are. He might really want to be an actor. That might be his thing. So he’s thinking, ‘F*** this MMA thing… Fair play to Ciryl, though. Good luck to him. I’ve got nothing against Ciryl.

Gane has previously appeared in a couple of movies. However, are these projects more important to the French heavyweight than fighting in the UFC? Aspinall said that Gane had multiple opportunities to face him. Gane ranks #2 in the UFCโ€™s heavyweight rankings. However, with a much more active and congested division, it is unclear if Gane will be able to maintain that position if he continues to miss opportunities in the octagon.

Ciryl Ganeโ€™s last fight was in September last year. He headlined UFC Fight Night 226 and defeated Serghei Spivac via TKO in the second round. Juggling an acting career along with a high-level MMA career is not easy. The closest Gane came to the title was the interim heavyweight championship. Will Gane get back to serious matchups against the top dogs in the division? Or will he transition to fame and money from his acting gig now that he is 34 years old?

Despite Ciryl Gane turning him down, Aspinall has secured an opponent for UFC 304. UFC CEO, Dana White recently declared that Aspinall would take on Curtis Blaydes for UFC Manchester. Aspinall would be fighting on his home ground, but he was not happy about one particular thing in the matchup.

I tried to ask the UFC brass, ‘Can we change the times?’ It didn’t go down well, mate! They were just like, ‘Nope.’ There wasn’t even any negotiations there.

The PPV timings for UFC 304 had caused much uproar among UK fans on social media. Leon Edwards had recently revealed in an interview that the bout was originally supposed to happen in Salt Lake City, Utah. However, the promotion was unable to change timings despite the new fight location.
