Canelo Alvarez Fight vs. UFC #306 HEAD-TO-HEAD Battle Same Day

‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor doesn’t hold himself back from publically expressing himself. This time, the former UFC double champ took a jibe at the Mexican boxing legend Canelo Alvarez. In doing so, the Irishman also backed UFC CEO Dana White‘s dream project at Las Vegas Sphere to overshadow the Canelo Alvarez vs. Edgar Berlanga fight card.

Interestingly, Canelo Alvarez’s choice to avoid facing his long-time rival David Benavidez has sparked intense criticism. The renowned Mexican boxer has persistently turned down the prospect of competing against Benavidez. Canelo even declared that he would only consider fighting Benavidez if offered a staggering $200 million. In response, Conor McGregor launched a scathing verbal attack.

Canelo is a cornflake. He has about 300k buys in him. He does not generate nothing near what he seeks to be paid. UFC NOCHE is going to run them from the strip. Sheik Turki was right moving on. CANELO DOESN’T SELL.

McGregor implied that Alvarez does not have the same level of popularity to attract a big audience for a fight as he did a few years ago. The Irishman believes the Mexican’s demand to fight Benavidez is rubbish. Following that, McGregor backed Dana White’s dream project, i.e., the UFC Noche event, to successfully overshadow Canelo’s fight card in their highly anticipated clash on September 14th.

McGregor voiced strong opinions on the current status of Canelo’s surroundings. Furthermore, the ex-UFC double champion also appreciated the recent choice made by Turki Alalshikh. The Saudi Delegate has made his intentions clear about hosting the long-awaited Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford fight.

Turki Alalshikh has given an update about the potential Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford fight

Turki Alalshikh, the head of Riyadh Season, has retracted his proposal for a high-stake fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford. This announcement comes after weeks of speculation and excitement in the boxing community regarding whether Alvarez would agree to the offer. On the other hand, Crawford has been actively pursuing a fight with the Mexican boxer for a long time now.

Crawford’s most recent victory in his 154lb debut against Israil Madrimov came via decision. This victory eventually increased expectations for the potential super fight. Alalshikh initially voiced his encouragement for the showdown and even recommended that Alvarez consider the proposal. Nevertheless, Alalshikh recently went on social media to declare his choice to cancel the suggested fight.

Just wrapped up an important meeting now with my team, planning for the upcoming fights that we will make for 2024-2025. I decided to disregard the Canelo fight, as I don’t want it anymore…

Moreover, Alalshikh has shifted his attention to the US market with a new goal of arranging bigger boxing matches involving well-known fighters. Since a Crawford fight doesn’t seem likely for Alvarez shortly, he might concentrate entirely on the upcoming defense of his super middleweight titles against Edgar Berlanga on September 14th.
