Michael Chandler waited almost two years in order to get the Conor McGregor fight. He came close to achieving his dream at UFC 303 but McGregor’s injury resulted in cancellation of the bout. Now Chandler has seemed to move on and fight for the lightweight title and according to Matt Brown, that’s the best way to approach the situation.
UFC veteran, Matt Brown recently talked with MMA reporter Damon Martin where he went into detail about the McGregor and Chandler fiasco. According to the retired fighter, Chandler doesn’t need to fight McGregor if he has got the title shot. Brown suggested the ‘Iron’ to move on from McGregor and chase the Islam Makhachev fight.

Brown explained that Chandler should prioritize fighting Islam Makhachev more than Conor McGregor. According to Brown, even if Chandler beat McGregor, he might not get a title shot for a long time. Recently, Chandler called out Makhachev however, he also kept McGregor in the picture as a backup. Makhachev didn’t like the proposal and denied Chandler and called him unreliable.

In the middle of all this, if the UFC decides to make the Chandler vs. Makhachev fight, it might create a problem for Conor McGregor. Although the ‘Notorious’ has several other opportunities, Chandler is the best choice for him for his return. It was a big and stylistically better fight for the former double champion. On the other hand, according to Chael Sonnen, this whole thing is affecting Chandler.

While talking about the situation, UFC veteran Chael Sonnen revealed that Chandler is currently wasting his time and this might be a big hit to his pocket. According to Sonnen, Chandler should not put his trust in McGregor and try other options.

Although Chandler has mentioned that he has been offered the Makhachev fight, there is no confirmation about it. With the Dagestani’s attitude towards Chandler, it seems to be tough matchmaking. Nevertheless, many fans are excited to see that Chandler is finally looking out for other opportunities other than McGregor.
