UFC 303: Pereira vs Procházka 2, Live from T-Mobile Arena, Nevada, has seen mammoth changes in the build-up. One matchup hasn’t changed yet. Ian Machado Garry still meets Michael ‘Venom’ Page in what could be a striking clinic delight on the main card. The Irishman expressed “zero interest” three months ago against Michael Page. So what changed?

Nothing — but Garry understands the rival wants to goad his interest into the fight. Speaking to MMA Junkie’s Farah Hannoun, ‘MVP’ touched on the disinterest of Garry, vowing to make quick work of him. Now that the 26-year-old Irishman has turned his attention towards him, he can’t let go of such lofty aspirations.

Now, he’s coming to the UFC, which is the greatest organization in fighting, and he thinks he’s going to come into this division and do, what, win a world title? He couldn’t do it in Bellator, and he thinks he’s going to do it here…he’s not gonna touch me or anyone above me in rankings…

Garry (14-0, eight finishes) is still undefeated in the 170-pound division. A more stylistically appealing match for him was the man mudslinging at his personal life. The man who made a failed bid at divisional gold at the Madison Square Garden Arena the same night he made his banger debut – Colby Covington. However, with ‘Chaos’ ignoring his repeated pleas, the fighter agreed to work his way down the rankings.

But in no way does he think Michael ‘Venom’ Page can defeat him or anyone above in the rankings. Garry has already downslided Page’s two-minute fight prediction. Now, he dumbs down his running at Bellator to additionally diss him. As such, the build-up between the two entertainers can prove a talking point leading up to the final hours.

Ian Machado Garry was surprised to hear Michael Page’s prediction for their fight at UFC 303. Page (22-2 MMA and 17-2 Bellator; 1-0 UFC)  is fresh off a unanimous nod over Kevin Holland at UFC 299. Now he partakes in his second match at UFC 303, in a key welterweight bout. He meets Ian Garry on the main card at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

‘Venom’ recently told MMA Junkie that he excepts to fight the start early, with definitive striking, landing well within the first two minutes or so. The rival from Ireland knows of his kickboxing prowess but doubts it’ll go that route.

He thinks it’s going to be a two-minute fight? I bet you he throws three shots in two minutes…I guarantee you – go watch the second fight he had with Douglas Lima and watch how many shots he threw in the first two and a half minutes. I know. Two. He’s going to be very, very similar…

Garry mocks that the Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix Semi-finalist would not perform any better than he did in his run so far. Consequently, the Englishman had the most stoppages in division history during his run there. He even made a brief stint, fighting bare-knuckle. But Garry cares not.

If he’s successful at UFC 303, Garry doesn’t want to get distracted from planning for undisputed gold. An impressive win over a popular fighter like Page could propel him into a title shot. Hence, he doubles down on his “disruptor” fame to distrust the rival’s mettle.
