Paul George Keeps It Real on How the Clippers Negotiations Deteriorated

The offseason saw Paul George sever ties with the Los Angeles Clippers for the Philadelphia 76ers in acrimonious circumstances. However, the 76ers fans are excited about the prospect of what might be. However, despite the joy surrounding the move, veteran forward Draymond Green expressed his candid concerns about the expectations their supporters have.

According to Draymond Green, the Philadelphia fans are known for their passionate, yet critical nature, as they often voice displeasure when the team falls short. While the acquisition of PG13 has brought optimism which will give fans reasons to cheer, Green believes a single bad game could quickly turn support into harsh criticism.

Good luck, Paul George. Aww, he better play well or they’re going to crush Paul George if he don’t play well. Oh my God. You know why they’re gonna crush George if he play there? If he don’t play well?
Green told NFL insider Jordan Schultz

Paul George, not a stranger to criticism, signed a massive $212 million contract with the 76ers. Moreover, he will be teaming up with former MVP Joel Embiid and an excited young star Tyrese Maxey, to bring home an NBA title to Philly. However, he has to know that failure only breeds criticism and the 76ers’ fans are not the most patient kind.

Notwithstanding, it’s an exciting prospect for the city as PG13 on a good day is quite unstoppable. Last season for the Clippers he averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game.

LA Clipper coach Ty Lue breaks silence on Paul George’s departure to the 76ers

There was always going to be a winner in the departure of Paul George from the Los Angeles Clippers, and in this case, it’s the Clippers. The Clippers had signed him in 2019 after surrendering a package that included current Oklahoma City Thunder star, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

What’s the ceiling for the Clippers after losing Paul George? | Numbers on the Board

Watching him leave for nothing has to be a bitter pill to swallow and speaking on the subject, Clippers coach Ty Lue told ESPN about the pressure the move has brought and how he is out to prove his naysayers wrong. Although the Clippers still have former NBA champion, Kawhi Leonard and former MVP James Harden on their roster, they remain optimistic.

When you lose a guy of Paul George’s stature, instantly people [think] oh, they can’t win or they’re not going to be competitive. But that just challenges me even more. OK, people are counting us out or people don’t think we’re going to be good. That right there just gives me an extra dose of [motivation]. I can’t wait to prove everybody wrong.
Coach Ty Lue to ESPN

The Clippers with PG13 last season were eliminated in the playoffs by Western Conference winners, the Dallas Mavericks. The new season promises to be exciting as the Clippers will hope to rebuild without George and him trying not to incur the wrath of the 76ers fans.
