Tom Aspinall recently secured his win at UFC 304. The interim heavyweight champion immediately made a callout to reigning heavyweight champion, Jon Jones. It is a fight that Aspinall has been pushing, ever since he became the interim champion. However, Jon Jones is still stuck on fighting Stipe Miocic upon his return.

After successfully defending his interim heavyweight title, Tom Aspinall did an interview with Megan Olivi. During the conversation, Aspinall sent out an important message to Jon Jones. He said that he was ready to take on the winner of Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic. However, he urged the heavyweight champion to hand over the title if he did not want the fight.

I’ll wait…that’s one worth waiting for. If Jon Jones doesn’t want to do it, OK. Just hand me over the title. I’ll take it, no problem. But that’s the fight I want. It’s the right fight to do. I understand that’s a huge fight for the UFC and the company — Stipe vs. Jon Jones. But, c’mon, you can’t leave me out.

UFC CEO, Dana White made a comment at the UFC 304 post-fight press conference. He stated that the UFC still plans on going ahead with the Jones vs. Miocic matchup. However, after this recent win, Tom Aspinall will likely be the backup fighter in case either Jones or Miocic fall through again.

Aspinall revealed that he was nervous facing Blaydes in Manchester. However, ‘Honey Badger’ delivered a stunning co-main event performance, taking out ‘Razor’ within a minute. Later during his interview with Megan Olivi of ESPN MMA, he had some good words to say about the UFC veteran.

Curtis is a great wrestler, but he’s also got great hands. He’s a great MMA fighter. The guy’s been in the top five since before I was in the UFC. He’s a veteran.
