Rountree Jr. and Alex Pereira went four rounds of brutal exchanges, headlining the main event of UFC 307. Fury posted an image of Rountreeโs battered face on his Instagram story. He went on to call Rountree a โmodern-day warrior.โย
The highly anticipated main event was held in Salt Lake City, Utah. Fans were eager to witness the clash between these two heavy hitters. Pereira is a former kickboxing champion and one of the most feared strikers in MMA.ย
However, Rountree put up a strong fight, particularly in the second round, where he managed to trouble Pereira. In the fourth round, Pereira unleashed a powerful combination, forcing the referee to step in and stop the fight at 4:32, giving โPoatanโ victory via TKO.

Pereiraโs precise striking caused multiple cuts and heavy bleeding on Rountreeโs face and chest. After the fight, he was taken to a hospital for precautionary treatment, where he received stitches for his cuts. UFC CEO Dana White praised Rountreeโs courage for going toe-to-toe with one of the most feared strikers in the division.
It remains unclear if Rountree sustained any serious long-term injuries beyond the visible cuts. He was expected to be evaluated further by doctors before heading home to Las Vegas.
Boxing star Ryan Garcia pushes for Alex Pereira vs. Jon Jones after UFC 307
After Alex Pereiraโs dominant title defense at UFC 307 against Khalil Rountree, the conversation has shifted to his potential future matches. Many are speculating that Pereira might move up to heavyweight, where a fight with Jon Jones could be monumental. However, Pereira has also hinted at returning to middleweight for a fight with Dricus du Plessis.
UFC 307 was Pereiraโs third successful light-heavyweight title defense in the past seven months. It is the same division that Jones ruled on and off for almost eight years. Many are pushing for a Pereira vs. Jones showdown. That includes boxing star Ryan Garcia.
