Former UFC fighter Quinton Jackson, one of the hosts of the podcast, asked the couple about their first meeting. Interestingly, DJ’s wife revealed that they first met at Red Lobster. We both worked there. I was the alley coordinator and she was a server… We would always talk to each other about like our boyfriend and girlfriend problems and when I was leaving I was like, ‘Hey here’s my number.’ Gave my number. She called me that night and she never left.

According to Destiny Johnson, she and DJ first met when they were just nineteen years old. Interestingly, Mighty Mouse emphasized that Red Lobster played a key role in meeting his wife. After that, the couple got married in 2012. However, two years after their marriage, the popular fast-food chain was eventually sold for $2.1 billion to Golden Gate Capital.
Their relationship has been steady, and the couple often shares family pictures with their children on their Instagram accounts. DJ is particularly protective of his family, even avoiding confrontations when they are present. This reflects Demetrious Johnson’s nature as a family man. Through the years, he (Demetrious Johnson) sacrificed friendships, he sacrificed going to close friend’s weddings, birthday parties, travelling to see family, meeting up with family… He’d pick one day off a week and everybody wants him to go out and he’s like I’m exhausted. Sometimes I understood, sometime I didn’t. He lost a lot of friendship over that, nobody understanding or giving him the greatest understand that it’s a different lifestyle we live.

Apart from his career at One Championship, Mighty Mouse also participates in several Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments. Most recently, he won the 2024 IBJJF gold medal in Masters 2 featherweight division. Interestingly, being a 38-year-old, Johnson is not in the mood to stop his career soon.
