The current UFC roster has several promising and exciting fighters who have the potential to rise in the sport. One such fighter is the UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira. Recently, former UFC double champion Conor McGregor discussed Pereira. McGregor expressed his hope for ‘Poatan’ to achieve an unprecedented feat that no one in the promotion has accomplished yet.

Alex Pereira made his UFC debut in 2021. In just three years, he has already become the champion in two weight classes. Pereira first defeated Israel Adesanya to become the UFC middleweight champion. After that, he moved up a weight class and defeated Jiri Prochazka to become the champion in the UFC light heavyweight division. Interestingly, Conor McGregor wants Pereira to aim for another UFC gold.

There is one more matchup for him (Alex Pereira) at light heavyweight that I’d be interested in is against the Dagestani. But other than that, I’d like to see him go for it. You know someone has to go for the three belts…

Conor McGregor has a potential opponent in mind – he wants a super-fight between Alex Pereira and Jon Jones. He believes that Pereira could pose a serious threat to the heavyweight king. Interestingly, Jones also desires to face ’Poatan,’ despite his ongoing beef with Tom Aspinall. While Pereira and Jones have expressed their willingness to fight each other, they don’t have any animosity towards each other.

Regarding the relationship between the ’Notorious’ and Poatan, McGregor and Pereira have consistently shown respect for each other. Most recently, when the Irishman faced intense scrutiny due to his behavior, Pereira extended his support to the Notorious. Similarly, McGregor doesn’t miss any chances to praise Pereira, especially after his recent fight.

Ever since his promotional debut, Pereira has made a remarkable name for himself in the promotion. This was further amplified by his back-to-back exquisite performances. Recently, the Brazilian fighter had his third consecutive defense fight against Khalil Rountree at UFC 307. In that fight, Pereira comfortably defeated the challenger.

The fight lasted four rounds and consisted of intense striking, with neither fighter attempting to land a takedown. McGregor, a fan of striking-oriented fights, was impressed by the show. As such, he even went on to social handles and praised Pereira and Rountree for their entertaining performance.

That was real fighting in the @ufc main event last night. Never settle for that other bullsh*t, @ufc fans! Never! Bravo Khalil and Alex! REAL

Like McGregor, several other fighters and individuals have praised the UFC light heavyweight champion. Now, it remains to be seen what Pereira’s next step in the promotion will be. Interestingly, Poatan recently posted a picture of Tom Aspinall staring him down. It will be interesting to see if that’s a hint for something.
