If Michael Chandler never gets to fight Conor McGregor in the UFC, at least he will have prime disses. The God above knows ‘The Notorious’ has a full array of slights towards peers. Chandler has always taken the high road with the expectant rival. But there’s only so much good he can dole out after the UFC 303 PPV scratchout!

UFC 303 was to be Michael Chandler’s return event. Soon came the low blow with the ‘Notorious’ canceling media obligations at the 3Arena in Dublin and pulling out altogether. Earlier this week, Chandler promised he’d attend UFC 303 like he was supposed to, even if not fighting. ‘Mac’ reposted memes about that, only to get a brutal response.

Speaking of showing up to events…glad you finally made it to the 3Arena where the press conference was supposed to be June 3rd. Sweet slippers. Who’s the Bellator Tick now? @TheNotoriousMMA

Conor McGregor cornered teammate Sinead Kavanagh during her submission skid to Arlene Blencowe recently. He attended Bellator Champions Series: Dublin at 3Arena for the 2024 Bellator EUROPE 3. He even hijacked the mic to talk about his injury. During their fiery moments of TUF: Season 31 days, McGregor used to diss him, calling him a “Bellator tick;” now he fires back.

McGregor did not pass on adding insult to injury, mocking Chandler for making a statement. As it stands, Chandler switching from his steadfastness to a playful jab adds another layer to their dynamic. Now, Chandler serves him back with his own infamous diss from back in the day. This has been quite a commonality nowadays. There’s more news on the return front.

Since his most recent fight in July 2021, Conor McGregor has likely spent more time at live events between Bellator and BKFC, boxing events, and home shows. With his most recent pullout, Michael Chandler is undoubtedly rattled. He has remained suave about it all. But a more downbeat Chandler did express uncertainty about the fight happening.

Michael Chandler (23-8 MMA, 2-3 UFC) has been willingly sitting on the sidelines ever since aspiring for this prize fight since UFC 281. Many have questioned the pertinence of such a long wait. Now that McGregor withdrew from the UFC 303 headliner on June 29 due to injury, it’s even a longer wait.

McGregor was interviewed by Andy Stevenson of SevereMMA backstage at 3Arena for the 2024 Bellator EUROPE 3. The Irishman pitched in that he still cannot even wear a shoe due to his toe injury. But he expects to make a recovery soon.

The injury is a nuisance. It’s painful. I’m not going to lie. It’s very, very painful – probably even more than the leg, and that’s the truth. I’ll tell you why: The leg was at least wrapped up. I couldn’t access it. The foot is just there still…I can’t get into a shoe yet…August-September … August-September, I’d love.

While in “recovery mode,” the Irishman has voiced his wishes to return in the two-to-three-month range – “Chandler or not.” However, more recently, McGregor said he hopes the expectant rival remains his opponent. Now that the two men are bickering on socials, it adds another chapter to their otherwise respectable demeanor. There might be hope yet that when the two return, fireworks will be in the making.
