Ian Garry expects to show a gulf in skill set between him and Michael Page

UFC 303 takes place on June 29 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card sees a striker’s delight matchup between two welterweights. Undefeated Ian Machado Garry takes on the interesting Michael ‘Venom’ Page. As such, ‘The Future’ has some future plans for the matchup.

If the Fight Inc: Inside the UFC docuseries proved anything — it’s that UFC CBO/head litigator Hunter Campbell is the crème de la crème of matchmakers. The Raw backstage scoop from The Roku Channel saw him make an effort to goad many prime matchups. Hence, Ian Garry wants to employ his help to make a last-minute stipulation to his UFC 303 fight.

Just finished a really good training session…I’m feeling fresh, I’m feeling ready! I think we should do five rounds. I’m gonna get on the phone with Hunter and the UFC…Let’s push for a five-round for this…Let’s push it; this is the fight where we’re representing the Irish. MVP…Get ready for 25 minutes of pain…

Historically, three-round affairs fare better as the usual template for non-title events. In the interest of time, that has always been the case to keep the focus throughout the prelims as well. Top middleweight Paulo Costa’s Haymaker battle at UFC 298 proved far better than his slow-running decision loss at UFC 302: Makhachev vs Poirier. Such few cases prove that three-round outputs are better.

However, Ian Garry is ready. A new signing at Chute Boxing, the Irishman has focused on improving his grappling skills. Meanwhile, speaking to Joe Leigh of Title Sports Network (@TitleSportsNetwork), Tom Aspinall assured that Page’s underrated grappling can match Garry. Be it a standup game or to the ground, both seem capable of going the distance. Additionally, Garry has violent notions in mind.

Ian Garry wants to be the “MVP” against MVP. The second one does not stand in for the most valuable player tagline. He faces new signing Michael ‘Venom’ Page in the undercard of Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler headlined UFC 303 card.

Page is a Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix Semi-finalist with the most stoppages in division history. At 21-2 MMA and 17-2 Bellator, this would be his second outing under the UFC banner. The Irish welterweight is slightly favored over Michael ‘Venom’ Page at UFC 303. However, some oddsmakers, pundits, and fans consider them equally potent, leaving Garry to scoff at the notion.

‘Who’s the biggest name? Who’s the biggest test that UFC fans want to see me go up against?’ Everyone was saying Michael Page, then that’s the one guy to make it happen with…I believe I’m levels above him in every single way, shape, and form, and this is just an opportunity to show it, to prove it to people…I’ll use him as an example.

Subsequently, he will look to live up to those remarks at UFC 303. The 26-year-old has already mentioned his disinterest in fighting down the ladder against Page. Yet, now that some fans are veering towards the Brit from Team London Shootfighters, Gary is ready to show a masterclass against him.

He is on a 14-0 MMA and 7-0 UFC streak. Concurrently, the young Irishman thinks the disparity in ranking and a ten-year age difference will help his output better in a five-round affair. It remains to be seen if the UFC makes it a five-round contest. If not, Garry will have to prove his level by dominantly defeating MVP in a three-round contest.
