Anthony Edwards is living up to his expectations, as he has quickly established himself as one of the NBA’s top young superstars. His performances have made him a fan favorite and as a result, have caught the interest of former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins

Kendrick Perkins, during the recent episode of ESPN’s NBA Today, caused a stir on the internet when he made an interesting prediction that Anthony Edwards will be the 2025 NBA MVP. Some might find it feasible given the Timberwolves’ rise as one of the league’s best teams as well as Ant Man’s upward trajectory.

Anthony Edwards is out to go get his. He wants to win, but this year I wouldn’t be surprised if he leads the league in scoring… I know he wants to win a championship, he has said that time and time again, but Anthony Edwards also wants to stack up those individual accolades. Anthony Edwards also wants to be the future face of the NBA.
Kendrick Perkins said

Last season was great for the former No. 1 draft pick as he averaged 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 46.1% from the field and 35.7% from beyond the arc. His stats weren’t just for the sheet, as he also played a key role in their journey to the conference finals after defeating the Denver Nuggets.

Edwards took that winning mindset to the just concluded Summer Olympics in Paris as he got to learn from the league’s best. His rapport with his mentor, Kevin Durant surely will help build his confidence and maybe arrogance as the new season approaches.

Anthony Edwards’ interesting claim regarding himself and teammates

To repeat last season’s heroics, the Minnesota Timberwolves’ championship hopes this season fully rest on the big three comprising Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Rudy Gobert. However, that might not be the case as it looks like the young core of Edwards, Jaden McDaniels, and Naz Reid could be the ones to turn them into a perennial contender.

Furthermore, a recent video which came from the Wolves’ official X account highlighted the trio in training, as Edwards emphasized their growth and potential impact in the 2024-25 season. And knowing how great they can be, there’s hope for the T-Wolves base.

If us three become consistent, y’all are in trouble. If we can somehow become older than what we are early? We got to grow early.
Anthony Edwards said during the Wolves workout

The young trio would know that the baton would be passed down to them as the old guard gets rusty. They would have to step up as fast as possible as the new season starts with a game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
