In a candid conversation with People Magazine, Finn Wolfhard bared his soul about his ultimate aspiration of gracing the revered Saturday Night Live stage, just before immersing himself in the Saturday Night film. Reflecting on his upcoming role, the actor delved into his fantasy debut on the legendary comedy sketch show.
Recounting his vision, Wolfhard expressed his desire to recreate the electrifying Underground Rock Festival sketch, renowned for its magnetic rapping prowess. “They were hosts of this dreadful metal festival, and they would concoct themed commercials unveiling the lineup,” he shared during his interview.
Chuckling, he added, “I recently revisited that sketch and found it uproariously entertaining because it’s essentially a guise to list a plethora of random bands. Reviving that sketch would undoubtedly spark laughter.”
Envisioning a dream guest to witness his grandeur on stage, Wolfhard envisioned the presence of an Indie rock band or a 90s alt band. Stepping into his role in the Saturday Night film as the NBC Page under the direction of Jason Reitman, Wolfhard exuded enthusiasm for the project.
Joining him in this star-studded cinematic journey, Gabriel LaBelle embodies SNL creator Lorne Michaels, while a constellation of talents like Dylan O’Brien, Cory Michael Smith, Lamorne Morris, Ella Hunt, Emily Fairn, Matt Wood, and Kim Matula bring iconic figures like Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, and Gilda Radner to life.
A slew of other formidable actors including Nicholas Podany, Rachel Sennot, Willem Dafoe, Nicholas Braun, Cooper Haufman, and Jon Batiste make cameo appearances, adding depth to the narrative. The official synopsis promises a rollercoaster of humor, pandemonium, and the enchantment of a near-revolution, building up to the iconic moment we all anticipate.
For Wolfhard, being part of such a monumental film is a labor of love in itself, igniting a fervor within him. “I take immense pride in the scenes I’ve been a part of and feel privileged to contribute to a project of this caliber alongside a stellar cast,” the young actor shared with palpable excitement.
The curtains have risen on the Saturday Night film, inviting audiences to revel in its magic on the silver screen. Let the show begin!
