Sean Strickland is one of the most controversial figures in the UFC. His conservative views and outspoken persona have often come at odds with other fighters and the liberals. In recent times, Strickland was extremely critical of the Navy SEALS, and now retired UFC fighter Tim Kennedy has followed suit.

Kennedy was recently on the TwinsPod, where several UFC fighters like Bryce Mitchell and Colby Covington have appeared as guests. Kennedy explained, on the podcast, the differences between the Navy SEALS and the Green Berets. Interestingly, his description was hilarious with a pinch of sarcasm.

The earlier [Navy SEALS] are really incapable of doing anything besides looking good in tanning lotions, writing books, and pretending that they killed people. And then the latter, the Green Berets, are talented at violence…On the spectrum of mission-capable and completely useless, you have the SEALs over here on the left, and then you have the Green Berets on the right. They are born to win wars and are like chiseled out of granite.

Strickland’s criticism of Navy SEALS was due to one of them, who is an influencer, calling him out for a street fight. Jason Pike, the influencer, called him out after Strickland stated no Navy SEAL would survive training with him. Strickland had previously vowed to break David Goggins, an ex-Navy SEAL.

Navy SEALS are the U.S. Navy’s primary special operations force, while Green Berets are the special operations branch of the U.S. Army. Kennedy is a Master Sergeant and a Green Beret. As such, his views are likely biased. Nonetheless, Kennedy has engaged in several military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Tim Kennedy had only fought five times in the UFC and went 3-2. However, he twice challenged the Strikeforce middleweight championship before the UFC absorbed the promotion. Kennedy holds victories over Michael Bisping, Robbie Lawler, and others.

While a professional MMA fighter, he was also in the U.S. Army. He has done assassinations and rescue operations with the army. In his recent appearance on the TwinsPod, Kennedy hilariously talked about which branch of the U.S. Army assassinated Osama Bin Laden.

A bunch of different Navy SEALs are all claiming to kill him [Osam Bin Laden]. No, that would definitely have been a mistake made by the President about which Special Operations unit to send in there. Any of them you send—I mean, you send the 82nd Airborne in there, Bin Laden’s dead. You send the 101st, Bin Laden’s dead. It doesn’t matter what American warfighter you send.

However, Kennedy trolled the U.S. Marines, subtly trolling they would’ve not assassinated Bin Laden. Kennedy retired from the UFC after he lost consecutive fights to Yoel Romero at UFC 178 and Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 206. In the recent past, he was part of the rescue operations in Afghanistan, saving allies of the U.S.A.
