Former Carolina Panthers wide receiver Devin Funchess last caught a pass in the NFL in 2019. Since then, he has been catching passes of a different kind. The former wideout has since taken to basketball and has been playing consistently for the past few years.
His motive is to play the NBA as he gears up for a tryout in the G-League. Speaking to TMZ Sports, the former wideout made his motive clear.
I wanna go against the best guys in the world. That’s my ultimate goal.

In essence, he is not content with playing in the Colombia Basketball League where he currently plies his trade. He wants to play amongst the best of the best. i.e. the NBA. For that, he is working on his game as much as possible.
The first step will be to excel at the G-League tryouts. A stepping stone for anyone who could not make it through the NBA Draft. Funchess will be one of the older players in the G-League. However, that has not deterred the former Carolina Panthers wideout so far.
If he wants to play at the highest level, he also has to compete against quality players. That starts with the G-League. Impress scouts there, and most likely he can earn a 10-day contract to impress any NBA franchise. That is how he can create a legacy for himself to be one of the rare few to have played in both professional leagues.

If Devin Funchess can make it to the NBA, there will be one set of athletes who will be looking to shut down a certain Austin Rivers. After the former NBA player turned analyst suggested that 30 NBA players can play in the NFL right now. Since then, a barrage of NFL players, both current and former, have come out to bash Rivers.
