Petr Yan and Chito Vera are going back and forth again. According to Vera, Petr Yan does not want to fight him after all their recent trash talk online. He recently took to X and declared that Petr Yan has turned down a potential fight against him at the Madison Square Garden.
There were signs of a potential matchup between the two bantamweights after UFC 299. However, Vera recently sent out a tweet on X. According to this, the UFC has told Vera that Yan is not going to fight him in the near future. He wrote:
UFC saying that Yan ain’t gonna fight. Easy to bark when you know you not stepping up.

Yan had recently trolled Vera after his recent loss to Sean OโMalley at UFC 299. Vera had given OโMalley the only loss in his UFC career. But this time, OโMalley completely outclassed him and grabbed the bantamweight title for himself. Vera targeted Petr Yan as his next fight and called him out.
That same night, Petr Yan beat Song Yadong breaking his three-fight losing streak. He later trolled Vera saying that if they had fought earlier, Vera would not have even gotten a title shot. However, Yan incurred several injuries in that fight and will reportedly be out for a while now.
If not Chito Vera, who will Petr Yan fight next?
Chito Vera is not the only opponent on Petr Yanโs list of targets. The former bantamweight champion revealed in an interview after UFC 299 that he wants to fight the top fighters in the division. However, he declined any potential fight against the former champion Aljamain Sterling.
Petr Yan made this statement during an interview with Gorilla Fighting on YouTube. Translated from Russian, he said:
I want rematches. I told you, it’s going to be rematch season. With Song, he wanted to take mine… Sean O’Malley, Merab Dvalishvili. I’m not interested in Aljamain Sterling. He’s a different weight. There’s no point in talking about it now. These two rematches and plus, I’m interested in Marlon Vera. Guys who are in the top five.

He also talked about Olympic wrestler and former champion, Henry Cejudo. According to Yan, he is only interested in the ranked fighters in the division who are on his level. According to Yan, Henry Cejudo is out of the question for now.
