Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson transforming into the legendary MMA notoriety Mark Kerr is old news now. But wait! There’s more. The entertainment wrestling phenom/actor sizzles once again in a behind-the-scene look from the movie. He portrays Mark Kerr For A24’s The Smashing Machine.

The Benny Safdie-directed The Smashing Machine is an independent studio production. Johnson’s portrayal is to be a story based on the true events surrounding Kerr’s struggle with PED usage and unethical coaching. Moreover, anticipations are it will be anything but a typical “The Rock” movie.

The wrestler usually lives up to his in-ring persona of being a people’s champ, which mostly translates to high-octane action flicks or comedy. Barring a few releases like Doom, he usually plays the straight-up hero. However, Dwayne Johnson’s first look in A24’s media release showed a new dedication and layer to the role. Check out a few more immaculate snaps of him as Mark Kerr.

Johnson recently cautioned about injury and soft tissue damage while training for the MMA biopic. The 52-year-old was training with pointers from two-time UFC Heavyweight Tournament Champ Kerr before that. Since then, he updated fans on his social media that his Bursitis fluid-sac slowly healed, indicating a return to training. All in all, the prospect of this movie is exciting major players, fans, and peers alike.

UFC boss Dana White thinks The Rock will be ‘Oscar-nominated’ for bruising and gutsy performance in his MMA biopic. White was one of the earliest entities brought into the fold of A24’s Noah Sacco’s tease about the project. Dwayne Johnson took his blessing to portray the MMA figure beforehand.

Mark Kerr was an embattled notable who racked up a 4-0 streak. He boasted four finishes at UFC 14 and UFC 15 in the latter half of 1997. More to it, his days of prominence gave rise to a lot more future talents. Now, as Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson leaves his comfort suit and plays this vital and compound role, White thinks The Smashing Machine will be to MMA what The Wrestler was to pro wrestling.

I don’t know if you saw it, but he was showing on his Instagram the other day that he messed up his elbow…The Rock will kill this. He will nail this role. I know how serious he’s taking this, I know who’s working with him…I think that this could be the opportunity for The Rock to actually be nominated for an Oscar.

Fight Inc: Inside the UFC premiered on June 7th on the free, ad-supported Roku Channel. Dana White is consequently part of the cast, where cameras capture White and Co. in rare 48-minute episodes. He was recently in an interview with Collider about it yet again, where he touched on The Rock’s injury.

Mickey Rourke received an Oscar nomination for The Wrestler. While Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson isn’t famous for such dramatic realization of roles, White believes otherwise. With how much inside scoop and dedication he has witnessed, he says The Smashing Machine can earn an Academy Award nomination at the very least. Concurrently, undisputed heavyweight boxing champ Oleksandr Usyk is a recent addition to the film. The hype on that will go through the roof!
