The rivalry between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor will not go down anytime soon. Despite facing each other three times in their careers, their animosity remains as intense as ever. It takes the form of battles on social media in recent times, as McGregor hasn’t fought since their trilogy bout.

Following a round of mysterious remarks from the Irishman, the former adversaries reconnected on social media. Poirier responded to a tweet from McGregor claiming that everything that comes into his contact turns to gold. Poirier playfully made a suggestion to the ‘Notorious’ without reservation.

While speaking to Ariel Helwani, Poirier admitted the need to stop himself from responding to McGregor’s taunts on social media. Following Poirier’s interview, McGregor left derogatory comments on an Instagram post about Poirier donating his fight kit to charity.

The Irishman even accused Poirier and Khabib Nurmagomedov of being fraudulent with their finances. However, Poirier managed to outdo McGregor with a cutting remark on X. Given their on-and-off banter on social media, McGregor once talked about his and Poirier’s potential quadrilogy fight.

In 2014, “Notorious” knocked out Poirier in 106 seconds. Fast-forward almost seven years later in January 2021, “The Diamond” secured a second-round victory. The two fighters soon signed a trilogy fight in July 2021 to settle the score.

Unfortunately, the fight came to an abrupt end when McGregor broke his leg. The Irishman even expressed that he felt he had unresolved business with Poirier and contended that his loss was not legitimate. Since then, Poirier has challenged for the title twice, whereas McGregor remained sidelined.

Almost three years later, he still wants to settle his beef with Poirier. In an exclusive interview with talkSPORT, the UFC superstar discussed Poirier’s big victory and talked up the possibility of the pair meeting in a fourth MMA fight. McGregor believes it would settle the mishap in the trilogy bout.

It was good to see Dustin (Poirier) win at UFC 299. That makes this the quadrilogy fight – the real trilogy fight – to put a finish to it.

Now, McGregor is set to make his return soon after his withdrawal from UFC 303. On the other hand, Poirier is looking for a fight that would interest him and get him motivated to work. It remains to be seen what UFC feels about Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier’s quadrilogy fight. Given that McGregor gets his comeback win against Michael Chandler, there might be a possibility of this fight happening.
