Dustin Poirier will face Islam Makhachev in a few days at UFC 302. The 35-year-old fighter has planned to bring his seven-year-old daughter to see him fight in the octagon live. Although many fighters believe in keeping their family life and professional life separate, โThe Diamondโ has other plans.
Dustin Poirier recently sat down with Andreas Hale from ESPN MMA. During their discussion on ESPNโs YouTube channel, โThe Diamondโ discussed bringing his daughter to the upcoming fight.
I just don’t wanna take that from her childhood of one chance to feel that energy in the arena. I think she’s old enough and mature enough as she can be for a seven-year-old kid to understand and enjoy this journey, I don’t wanna look back and wish she could have witnessed this or I wish she could have felt this energy and been in the arena. I want to give it to her now you know and we’ll see how it goes.

Poirier was the interim lightweight champion in 2019. There is a video on the internet that same year of Poirier promising his daughter to bring two belts back home. Will โThe Diamondโ be able to fulfill his promise to his daughter? Only time will tell.
Why does Dustin Poirier go by the nickname โThe Diamondโ?
Dustin Poirier is one of the top fighters on the UFC roster. He has fought some of the best fighters in the promotion and defeated quite a few of them. So how did โThe Diamondโ get his name?
