Sports analyst Stephen A. Smith most recently had a war of words with the social media handle of the New Orleans Pelicans following his controversial criticism of their star player and 2019 draft first pick, Zion Williamson. He labeled Zion’s dieting as the cause of his inability to maintain an optimum physical condition.

The New Orleans Pelicans responded with a series of tweets on the X social media handle trolling the controversial analyst. Going as far as sharing a video of him missing easy shots, falling on a basketball court, and his poor first pitch at a New York Yankees game.

In an attempt to continue trolling Stephen A. Smith, Charles Barkley, known for his sarcastic style of sports commentary, at the end of “Inside the NBA” on TNT added his voice to the trend. He said,

Hey Shaq! You saw the Pelicans was killing Stephen A., right? Hey! Stephen A., we love you. I’m trying to figure out how you average one and a half points. Don’t you get two?

However, this is not the first time Stephen A. Smith has found himself in this mess due to his controversial comments and gestures.

Barkley had an illustrious career in the NBA and has reasons to be concerned when things don’t work or when a system in the league is broken. He recently made his concerns known in a recent appearance on the “Stephen A. Smith Show.”

He spoke candidly with Stephen A. Smith on the matter during the interview. He said,

You have to be concerned. Everybody has to be concerned. Because the one thing you can’t do is alienate your fans. That’s the one thing you can’t do, because the fans make everything go. They buy our products. They watch our sport. And once you piss them off, there’s gonna be some repercussions.

The 11-time NBA All-Star knows what it takes to succeed as an NBA player and, despite his controversial nature, wants to see the sports and league he loves so dearly not fall due to the ego of the league’s richest players. The “Round Mound of Rebound” retired as one of only four players in NBA history to record at least 20,000 points, 10,000 rebounds, and 4,000 assists in their career.
