"Don't like to leave things unsettled..." Dustin Poirier teases fans with Justin Gaethje trilogy after talks of retirement

Dustin Poirier put up an incredible show at UFC 302 but failed to win the lightweight title against Islam Makhachev. After the fight, the ‘Diamond’ admitted that he had nothing else to fight for in the promotion. However, the fighter seems to have some unfinished business with Justin Gaethje.

Dustin Poirier recently joined Good Guy/Bad Guy with Daniel Cormier and Chael Sonnen ahead of UFC 303. It was a wholesome surprise after the fighter revealed that he might retire from fighting. During the conversation, DC asked Poirier about potentially fighting Justin Gaethje. Poirier mentioned that he doesn’t like to keep things unresolved.

You know I don’t like to leave things unsettled. We are 1-1, with one KO a piece. So, the rubber match? I don’t know, we gotta see.

Poirier and Gaethje have already fought each other twice and are equal on the scorecards. Both fights ended with finishes, with Poirier getting floored in the last one at UFC 291. It was the fight for the symbolic “BMF” title which Gaethje took home. Since then, Gaethje has lost the belt to Max Holloway. However, fighting Porier won’t need a belt to be put on the line.

On the Good Guy/Bad Guy show, Poirier revealed that he’s still on the fence about retirement. The fighter still believes he would beat most of the top lightweights but doesn’t have the patience to wait for another title shot. However, to fight Gaethje, they will only need a contract from the UFC. Currently, Poirier is enjoying his time as an analyst at UFC 303 and has some interesting take on the main event.

Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka have fans on their toes with their upcoming light heavyweight title fight at UFC 303. The last time the pair fought, Prochazka came short and lost the fight via TKO. However, Prochazka initially kept ‘Poatan’ in check with his all-around attack in the fight. It was going Prochazka’s way until the nasty punching power of Pereira prevailed.

While talking about the rematch, Dustin Poirier mentioned the same thing and advised ‘BJP’ to have the same game plan. According to Poirier, Prochazka is a better MMA fighter than Pereira. Poirier advised Prochazka to use his wrestling and exploit Pereira’s lack of MMA experience.

Jiri needs to do what he was doing. Pressing Alex against the fence. Using his wrestling because as all know Alex hasn’t been in mixed martial arts for as long as Jiri has. I think Jiri has a better well-rounded game.

Going into the fight, Prochazka has accused Pereira of using his tribal magic to win fights. Prochazka urged the Brazilian to have a pure and fair fight at UFC 303. In retaliation, Pereira mocked Prochazka for his lack of spiritual awakening. The hype behind the fight is enormous, and fans are excited to see two modern-day warriors fight inside the cage.
