There has been a lot of buzzing news recently about the upcoming US presidential elections. As a result, the presidential candidates are making intentional efforts to promote themselves ahead of the elections. Notably, one such effort by Republican candidate Donald Trump led UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones to decide to cast his vote for Trump.

Just voted for the first time, and I’m feeling like a proud American!… Huge thanks to Joe Rogan and @realdonaldtrump for mentioning me in your last podcast. Honoured to be considered one of the best fighters on the planet among such fierce competition. To all my fellow Americans, especially the young ones: get out there and vote!…

In the episode, Trump made a concerted effort to win the UFC commentator’s endorsement. Although Rogan did not explicitly endorse Trump, their conversation resonated with many listeners. Among them was Jones, who expressed gratitude to both Trump and Rogan but did not offer a formal endorsement of Trump. Apart from Jones, several other fighters appeared to support and endorse the former president.

Jones seemingly appreciated how Rogan and Trump regarded him as one of the greatest fighters ever. Throughout his illustrious fighting career, he has defeated every opponent he faced, except one match in which he was disqualified for an illegal move. The fighting community is well aware of Jones’ stature within the promotion. Currently, Bones is preparing to defend his heavyweight title for the first time at UFC 309.

Jon Jones is considered one of the most successful fighters in UFC history. However, throughout his career, he has faced numerous challenges that have led to criticism from the public. Jones’ first fight in the UFC heavyweight division took place over a year ago against Ciryl Gane at UFC 285. Since then, he has dealt with a major injury that postponed his return to the octagon. However, with just a few days remaining until his first title defense at heavyweight, Jones mentioned that he almost feels like a light heavyweight, weighing in at just 240 pounds.

240 pounds, fast and strong. I used to walk around at 235 lbs as a light heavyweight. This almost feels like a light heavyweight fight without the weight cut.

The UFC heavyweight champion’s first title defense fight at UFC 309 is against Stipe Miocic. With confidence in his physique, Jones has roped in several prominent fighters to train him for his upcoming fight. While some fighters have doubts about whether the fight will occur, it will be interesting to see how the situation develops in the coming days.
