Dricus Du Plessis recently did an interview with Submission Radio after the UFC 305 pre-fight press conference. Du Plessis said he felt sorry for Chimaev for not being able to fight at UFC Saudi Arabia. ‘Stillknocks’ had some interesting things to say about a potential title shot with the Chechen. According to him, the UFC is wasting their time trying to push Chimaev into a title shot.
Right now, it just doesn’t even make sense to talk about it. You know he hasn’t fought one single ranked middleweight. Not one and to put him in that conversation right now seems like we’re wasting time.

Dricus Du Plessis is ready to get back in the octagon. He will take on former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya for his first title defense at UFC 305 in Australia. They recently had an intense and heated pre-fight press conference.
As for Chimaev, he had been wanting to enter the middleweight division for a long time. However, since his debut, the undefeated UFC contender has not fought a single ranked middleweight contender. His most recent fight was against former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ moved up a weight class to fight the ‘Chechen’ on short notice. However. ‘Borz’ was not the only middleweight the champion talked about.

Meanwhile, when asked about it, ‘Stillknocks’ confirmed that there was no such news from the UFC. However, he was glad Whittaker would get the job.
That just goes to show what an amazing fighter he is, I’m so happy for him and so happy that the world can see- the man is in his prime still, and I’m just happy he proved all those naysayers wrong in saying he’s a washed-up fighter.
