As the Los Angeles wildfires continues to cause havoc in the city, the authorities are trying their best to get the situation under control. Several celebrities and sports stars have donated some amount to aid the relief effort. Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani has now donated a sum of $500,000 for this.
The Japanese international announced this decision on his Instagram account on Thursday. In the post, Ohtani stated that this donation was done to help the firefighters and those forced to live in shelters and to help animals in need.
In the post, the two-way phenom also posted a heartfelt message for those who have been effected by this disaster.
A few days ago, Shohei Ohtani‘s teammate, Freddie Freeman and his wife Chelsea, also made a huge donation. The couple donated $300,000 to the LA fire relief.

Apart from them, Chris Taylor and veteran pitcher Clayton Kershaw are among those who have raised some amount to help those in dire need at the moment. As per reports, the CT3 foundation of Taylor has so far generated around $5,000.
Meanwhile, the Dodger Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Dodgers, will host a donation event on January 17. According to MLB.com, there will be three host sites evacuees may visit, including Dodger Stadium, SoFi Stadium and BMO Stadium.
LA Sports team come together to pledge more than $8 million for relief of fire victims
In an attempt to aid the wildfire victims of Los Angeles, 12 sports teams have joined hands. The teams have come together to pledge more than $8 million for relief of this fire victims earlier this week.
The 12 teams are Angel City FC, the Los Angeles Angels, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Anaheim Ducks, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Los Angeles Lakers, LA Galaxy, LAFC, Los Angeles Rams, the Los Angeles Chargers, the Los Angeles Sparks and the Los Angeles Kings.
The 12 franchises have also partnered with Fanatics distribute $3 million worth of merchandise to people who have been forced to evacuated from their homes. On top of that, teams are hosting their own donation drives.

The amount of money given by this 12 teams has raised some debates though. Some social media users argued that the teams could have donated more than $8 million. However, many also praised the efforts of the team to help the affected people during this natural disaster.
The LA Wildfire started on January 7 in the Palisades area. Since then it has been spread across to the Eaton and Hurst region. A total of 40,000 acres of land has been reported to been charred from this fires.
