A London-based backup dancer recently made headlines when she decided to step away from Punjabi sensation Diljit Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati Tour in Europe. She described the conditions as “unprofessional and stressful,” highlighting a lack of respect from the management team. However, a source associated with the tour dismissed these claims as “baseless and untrue,” attributing them to the sensationalism surrounding a superstar like Diljit.
The British-Indian dancer had initially been thrilled to be selected as a backup dancer for Dosanjh’s European tour, seeing it as a major milestone in her dance career. Despite her excitement, she ultimately chose to withdraw from the tour. This decision was influenced by a previous incident in July involving unpaid dues for dancers during Dosanjh’s US tour, which had been denied by the singer’s manager at the time.
According to the dancer, Dosanjh’s team had promised to pay ยฃ80 (around Rs 8,800) for the European leg of the tour, with dancers responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses for most of the journey. Despite being sold on the idea of a “once in a lifetime” opportunity, she was disappointed by the lack of professionalism and respect shown by the management team.
Communication breakdowns, unexplained dismissals, and last-minute rehearsals all contributed to a chaotic and unsettling experience for the dancers. The dancer expressed her frustration at the disregard for their well-being and the impact it had on the quality of their performances. Despite her initial enthusiasm, she ultimately decided to distance herself from the tour, unwilling to compromise her standards for the sake of a high-profile gig.
In response to these allegations, a source close to the tour team refuted the claims, labeling them as baseless and exaggerated. The source emphasized the challenges of managing a tour with a superstar like Diljit Dosanjh, where every action and decision is scrutinized and sensationalized.
