Ryan Garcia calls for testing the B-sample

The aftermath of Ryan Garciaโ€™s fight with Devin Haney caused much drama in the combat sports world. The war of words between Ryan Garcia and Conor McGregor escalated quickly. After the Irishman criticized Garcia over his recent failed drug test, the boxer went scorched earth in response.

Ryan Garcia was recently present on the Fully Tilted podcast. He expressed his thoughts on Conor McGregor turning on him. The host, Bob Menery, asked Garcia about his thoughts on Conor McGregorโ€™s recent comments. Garcia lashed out at McGregor and called him out on running away from drug tests.

What’s [McGregor’s] problem? Didn’t he run away from drug tests? Didn’t he, like, two and a half years was escaping drugs?…Like, this dude’s a clown, he just got off his rocker. He fu**ing did a bunch of cocaine…F*** him, I will beat the fu** out of him.

Garcia alleged that Conor McGregor was hooked on cocaine and avoided drug tests. He then went off on him and said that he would fight McGregor. Garcia was genuinely shocked when McGregor turned on him days after heartily congratulating him for beating Devin Haney. McGregor had issued a warning to Garcia to fix his act and rebuked him on the failed drug test.

McGregor is set to return to the octagon after nearly three years of absence. He will fight Michael Chandler at UFC 303. The boxing star would probably not be rooting for McGregor at this point. Only time will tell if the allegations against Garcia were true. It will also tell if McGregor could bring his signature style of fighting to the octagon.

The fallout from Ryan Garciaโ€™s failed drug test continues to unfold. The boxing star is adamant about proving his innocence by requesting his B-sample be analyzed. Garcia formally asked for the secondary sample to be tested on May 22nd in a letter obtained by ESPN. His attorney, Darin Chavez, will witness the examination process.

Garcia had until this weekend to make this pivotal request. It comes after findings surfaced in his A-sample for the banned substance Ostarine before his win over Devin Haney. The initial test also flagged another prohibited compound, 19-Norandrosterone. However, Chavez claimed in a new report that 19-Norandrosterone was not detected.ย ย

If Garciaโ€™s B-sample also tests positive for Ostarine, it could deal a massive blow to his career. Potential sanctions include a suspension, fine, and his Haney victory being overturned to a no-contest. The only certainty is that Garciaโ€™s B-sample results on May 22nd will be pivotal in determining if heโ€™s completely cleared or would face disciplinary action.
