Alexander Volkanovski has big plans for his return to the UFC. After facing consecutive losses and losing his title, Volkanovski has decided not to engage in short-notice fights. However, he is willing to take on Conor McGregor on short notice, but for a very specific reason.

Alexander Volkanovski recently sat down for a conversation with The AllStar. During the discussion on their YouTube channel, the former featherweight champion talked about considering another short-notice fight.

I mean I’ve told myself I wouldn’t do it, but to capitalize on a massive opportunity, lightweight because I know featherweight is going to be there, against Conor McGregor I still probably would, you just put that scenario there, maybe I will.

Alexander Volkanovski and short-notice fights do not go well together. The former champion stepped in on short notice to take on Islam Makhachev at UFC 294, with only 11 days to prepare. He got his head knocked off his shoulders with a brutal head kick by Makhachev three minutes into the first round.

Without giving much time to recover, he stepped into the octagon again in just four months to take on the undefeated Ilia Topuria to defend his featherweight title at UFC 298. Here he got knocked out again, this time in the second round.

Everybody is ready to get on board the UFC 303 train. It is definitely going to be a big payday for anyone who steps in against Conor McGregor in the octagon. Despite the past bad experience, Volkanovski is willing to take the chance if Michael Chandler backs out this June.

Joe Rogan says Alexander Volkanovski won his first fight against Islam Makhachev

Before getting knocked out at UFC 294, Alexander Volkanovski and Islam Makhachev fought a previous fight at UFC 284. This was back in February 2023 and this time their fight went the complete distance. Makhachev came out on time with the unanimous decision. However, UFC commentator, Joe Rogan had a different opinion about the fight.

When Volkanovski fought the first time and he was perfectly prepared, it was an amazing fight. I thought he won, I thought it was very close.

Volkanovski took a timeout after losing to Ilia Topuria. He revealed his plans during the interview with The AllStar that his next fight was going to be for the title. ‘The Great’ plans to come back later this year or early next year.
