Darvin Ham, the assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks, is enjoying the team’s NBA Cup success. But Ham’s thoughts haven’t been far from his time as the Los Angeles Lakers’ head coach, which ended abruptly last season. Ham was fired following the Lakers’ postseason loss to the Denver Nuggets.
This happened despite having guided the team to a conference finals berth and another postseason trip. Darvin Ham recently shared his thoughts on leaving the Los Angeles Lakers, saying that he believed his performance remains positive considering the downfall of the team in the 2021-22 season.
Despite having a 9–12 postseason record, Ham’s coaching record with the Lakers was 90–74 over two seasons. Nevertheless, Ham felt that his accomplishments deserved a lengthier stay as head coach. He underlined that the losses were frequently highlighted over his team’s accomplishments, such as their play-in victories and victories over formidable opponents.
Darvin Ham goes at the Lakers… my goodness:
“To do as well as I did… I swear to God, anywhere else I’m probably looking at an extension. I’m not talking feelings, just facts. They go from not making the playoffs to the Conference Finals, and we won the in-season tournament…… pic.twitter.com/WMERa90saB

Unquestionably, Ham’s perspective has been impacted by his time as a head coach. He is currently contributing his knowledge to the Milwaukee Bucks as an assistant coach. Ham is enjoying success once more following the Bucks’ recent NBA Cup victory. Only time will tell if the ex-Lakers coach will find a new HC role in other NBA teams.
Darvin Ham eyes potential future opportunities after great stint with the Milwaukee Bucks
Since becoming an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks, Darvin Ham’s coaching career has taken a turn for the better. Ham, who was fired as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, has found a new home in Milwaukee. The Bucks have benefited greatly from his experience and viewpoint, and his chances of becoming an NBA head coach again remain more promising than ever.
Ham is now a strong contender for any upcoming head coaching vacancies as a result of his contributions in Milwaukee. Ham’s name will probably be at the top of many wishlists as teams look ahead to possible openings next summer. He is a desirable option for teams looking for a new leader because of his accomplishments with the Bucks and his previous head coaching expertise.
Ham’s reputation as a coaching contender will only grow as long as the Bucks are successful. His run as the Lakers head coach still remains fresh in fans’ mind. Once the 2024-25 NBA season ends, the teams that disappointed will likely entertain a change in the coaching staff. As such, Ham can return as a head coach in the forseeable future.
