An online feud has erupted between UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier and welterweight contender Joaquin Buckley. Consequently, itโs as weird as it can get. Joaquin Buckley picked up an important win this past weekend at UFC on ESPN 56. Outpointing and dominating Nursulton Ruziboev over three rounds, he is now on a four-win streak high at the 170-pound class.
Defeating Ruziboev at St. Louisโ home turf, Buckley issued a precarious and lengthy callout directed at Conor McGregor. The fighter returns in a five-round welterweight affair at UFC 303 and is thus the most regal option. However, Daniel Cormier, along with Chael Sonnen and Micahel Bisping, thought the #11 ranked fighter went too far with his aspirations. โDCโ had menacingly bitten back as well, which made Buckley reply with an old reference.
If my call out is the worst of all time this call out mustโve of held the spot first @dc_mma you funny.

Joaquin Buckleyโs mom-shaming the Irishman to bait him had irked Daniel Cormier. Having lost his own mother in February 2022, the diss didnโt feel very lordly to him. Hence โDCโ jibed that the callout fell flat on all fronts and was dubbed down by the top three veteran fighters and analysts. โNew Mansaโ brought up a weird callout from the past featuring DC.
Back at UFC 226, after his heavyweight title win, โDCโ took to the mic and called out Brock Lesnar. The 5-3-0 (1 NC) reigned as the WWE Universal Champion at the time. He baited Lesnar to bring his WWE strap into the duel; however, his call to the WWE champ had fallen flatter than imagined.
Why Brock Lesnar vs. Daniel Cormier never happened?
For much of 2018, it looked like a Brock vs. Daniel Cormier UFC megafight was a lock, but the dream match never materialized. The two have had substantial history, albeit only in instances. Lesnar was a former 265 titleholder and an NCAA Division I Wrestling champion. Similarly, Cormier went to the Olympics and won the light heavyweight and heavyweight titles in the UFC.
After his bid to become a two-division champ, Daniel Cormier had vibrantly called out the heavyweight to enter the octagon. It was when Lesnar shoved Cormier, the famous altercation at UFC 226. Much like McGregor shoving Michael Chandler in their 2023 face-off, Lesnar did the same back then. The 39-year-old said it was a surprise; none of it was scripted. Nevertheless, welterweight star Joaquin Buckley deems the callout as the worst.
Brock Lesnar was a massive PPV draw, even setting a record $1.6 million buys when he headlined the historic UFC 100. However, he did not opt for UFCโs PPV business grind with ESPN, as WWE offered him more at the time. Soon after, Cormier retired after losing two straight times to Stipe Miocic. Lesnar was not an active fighter. As such, Cormier would have had every advantage in the game if the two had squared off.
