Daniel Cormier can see what Jon Jones is trying to do and he is not upset about it. Jon Jones may finally make a comeback after his injury. Recently, Cormier and Chael Sonnen sat down on ESPN’s YouTube channel and talked about the fight Tom Aspinall had been waiting on forever. However, they also talked about Pereira potentially moving to the heavyweight division and taking on Jones.

DC talked about it on the Good Guy / Bad Guy segment. According to Cormier, Jon Jones is trying to find the right matchup and he finds it to be quite a smart move.

Not everybody hits like Francis Ngannou or Alex Pereira, but if you can get away from that and manage that, it’s much less risky than fighting a guy with a full skillset that’s complete. That’s exactly what Tom Aspinall looks to be. I love what Jon is doing in terms of being smart, finding the right matchup. I don’t know that it will fly.

Everyone thought Jones’s first fight back in the octagon would be against Tom Aspinall. However, Pereira’s entry has made many fans believe Jon Jones is actually afraid to face the Brit even more. Being the interim champion, Aspinall and others may expect to see Jones take him on first. However, it will be interesting to see what happens next.

Tom Aspinall is moving on from a potential fight against Jon Jones

Tom Aspinall seems fed up with trying to get Jon Jones to sign a contract. He had been waiting to fight ever since last year. Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic were supposed to have a showdown and Aspinall was going to fight the winner. However, the fight got canceled because of injury.

Now, Aspinall cannot get Jon Jones to get in the octagon with him. He recently did an interview with TNT Sports where he refused to talk about Jon Jones. He said that he would talk about Jon Jones if they can ever get him to sign a contract with his name on the other side. He accused Jones of playing games and said it was unlikely they would fight anytime soon.

Aspinall is looking forward to a fight at UFC 304 on home ground in Manchester. The UFC is returning to the UK this July. Aspinall will likely defend his interim heavyweight title against another heavyweight contender.
