Rashad Evans on JAXXXON podcast
Co-host Bear DโEgidio talked about how Chuck Liddell was one of the toughest fighters the UFC had ever seen. Rashad Evans and Chuck Liddell clashed back in 2008. They headlined the main event at light heavyweight at UFC 88. Evans achieved a significant upset when he knocked out Liddell and shocked the MMA world. He delivered a clean overhand right that left Liddell unconscious.
Evans revealed at the podcast that although it was a spectacular knockout, the UFC does not feature it in its highlights. Regardless, that knockout was a turning point in Evansโ career. It solidified his status as a top contender in the light heavyweight division. Towards the end of his UFC career, Evans faced a series of consecutive losses and ultimately exited the promotion.
When Chuck Liddell won Dana White $5000 by fighting a hotel security guard
Dana White and Chuck Liddellโs friendship goes a long way back. The UFC CEO used to manage Liddell before buying out the company for $2 million. However, the duoโs friendship never swayed. They had many experiences, one of which Liddell narrated in his autobiography, โIcemanโ.
This was back when the UFC was not as big as it used to be. As per Liddellโs narration, he and Dana White were heading back to a hotel. A security guard got into an argument with Dana White because of Liddellโs appearances and refused to believe his story of being a UFC fighter. This was when the UFC CEO offered the man $5000 if he could last five minutes with Chuck Liddell.
It was two in the morning and Liddell and the security guard were in the lobby of a four-star hotel surrounded by spectators. In just under two minutes, Liddell put the man in a neck crank and left him writhing in pain on the ground.
