Dana White has been in the fight business for over 20 years now. He is the face of UFC and remains a massive reason for the promotion’s overall success. As expected, White is proud of UFC. However, there are some overestimations when it comes to his new venture, Power Slap.
Dana White recently sat down with comedian Andrew Schulz on his popular podcast FLAGRANT. During the conversation, White talked about the success of Power Slap. According to White, Power Slap has surpassed all the big sports teams regarding fan following.

While Power Slap has grown considerably since its inauguration, it’s hard to believe that it has beaten all the top sports teams around the world. Schulz was skeptical of it and asked if the Power Slap had more followers than the great Spanish football(soccer) giant Real Madrid. White immediately responded positively.

While White’s enthusiasm and confidence in Power Slap is praiseworthy, he cannot be more false about the numbers. Currently, the Power Slap league has a total of 3.9 million Instagram followers. It is significantly lower than the whooping 162 million followers that Real Madrid has on Instagram.

Football is one of the biggest sports in the world and has a massive number of fans worldwide. It is played by the most number of countries in the world and generates the maximum viewership compared to other sports. In 2022, the World Cup final between Argentina and France attracted over 1.5 billion people to watch the match.

However, it seems like Dana White is not aware of all this. According to White, football (soccer) is only played by untalented athletes.
I can’t stand soccer, I think that it’s the least talented sport on earth. There’s a reason that three-year-olds can play soccer okay? You run around and kick a ball….the score is 3-1, are you s***** me right now? Do you know how untalented you have to be to score three points when the net is this big?

Given the history and popularity of football, Power Slap is nowhere near it, anyway. White has always remained confident about the league and has frequently faced controversy from fans. However, that never stopped the UFC head honcho from doing his best to promote the league.
While White has no plans to back off from promoting Power Slap, it will be interesting to see how things turn out for Power Slap in the future.
