WWE presented their 38th annual Survivor Series event last night from Vancouver, BC. With over 17,800 fans in attendance at the Rogers Arena, the company broke an all-time gate record for an arena show in North America. Also in the building was reigning UFC Welterweight Champion, Belal Muhammad. He was shown on air with commentary acknowledging his No. 5 pound-for-pound ranking.
Muhammad was seen sporting a CM Punk tee. The MMA fighter wouldโve been delighted to see his fellow Chicagoan perform in the menโs WarGames match. As it happened, despite giving Roman Reigns a cold shoulder while locked inside the shark cage with him, Punk lived up to his word. He proved to be an X-factor for the OG Bloodline.
Reigns and crew had been a man short of their belligerent kins. Thatโs when Punk stepped up to fill in those shoes. The Best in the World was Paul Heymanโs trump card and it was worth a recruitment from The Wiseman. After beating Solo Sikoaโs Bloodline in an epic WarGames mugging, Reigns and Punk finally showed some respect to each other and shook hands.
Before leaving, Punk hugged Heyman and reminded his former manager that he still owes him a favor that heโd ask for when the time is right. In the menโs WarGames bout, bodies were flying all around. Although all ten of those men gave whatever they had, Jimmy Uso, โBigโ Bronson Reed, and Jacob Fatu were a touch above.
Jimmy broke his toe off the outrageous frog splash he delivered to Fatu from the top of the cage. Reed injured both of his ankles owing to an unsuccessful Tsunami attempt off the cageโs top, and his imminent future looks bleak. Jacob was pretty banged up as well.
WWE structured Survivor Series: WarGames less newsworthy on purpose
After a chaotic night of title matches and a couple of WarGames matches highlighting the PLEโs concept, WWE has entered its final month of the calendar year. And if it wasnโt obvious already, 2025 is going to be absolutely pivotal for the company.
In about two weeks, WWE will return to primetime on NBC for Saturday Nightโs Main Event. A week into January, Raw will debut on Netflix, which will kickstart the $5 billion agreement between WWE and the OTT juggernaut.
Having said that, if Survivor Series seemed a tad underwhelming to some, it was likely by design, per WrestleVotes. The upcoming 140-day stretch of WWE TV is going to be unpredictable and must-see. Theyโre set to take off.
