The long-brewing rivalry between Bobby Green and Paddy Pimblett could come to an end in the next few weeks. Currently, the fighters are scheduled to fight each other on the main card of UFC 304 in Manchester. Both fighters have engaged in trash talk leading up to the fight, and Pimblett just added a new insult to the mix.

Recently, Bobby Green declared that he had legally changed his government name to ‘King Green.’ Pimblett responded by mocking the fighter, referring to himself as the ‘KingSlayer’. In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, the Scouser once again mocked Green’s name change. Pimblett does not acknowledge Green’s new name, but he does have an explanation for why the UFC veteran did it.

His name is Bobby, lad. He was christened Bobby…The fact that he changed his name at the age of 40 shows that CTE is real.

Bobby Green has been in the fighting business for a long time and is currently 37 years old. Throughout his career, the veteran fighter has been in various bloody battles with top lightweights. Going into UFC 304, the fighter would like to continue his winning momentum, which he got at UFC 300. 

On the other hand, Pimblett is still undefeated in the UFC. Despite a disappointing performance against Jared Gordon at UFC 282, he rebounded with a dominant win over Tony Ferguson. The feud between Green and Pimblett sometime last year. With several back-and-forths in between, the fight was finally announced and now both are hungry to destroy each other.

Paddy Pimblett has always talked about his ambitions to fight for the lightweight title. The fighter is currently unranked and desperately needs to climb the ladder. Irrespective of his inconsistent record, Bobby Green is ranked #15 in the division. A win against the ‘King’ could potentially catapult Pimblett up in the rankings.

Ahead of the fight, Pimblett addressed how his UFC 304 opponent once made fun of him on Instagram Live from behind. In an interview, Pimblett shared why he wanted to fight a ranked opponent like Bobby Green.

Me vs. Bobby Green, I don’t care. I want to fight a ranked opponent. People keep b******* online ‘oh, you haven’t fought anyone ranked.’ I don’t pick me fights.

Pimblett will have a home advantage at UFC 304, and the British crowd will go crazy seeing their hometown fighter. On the other hand, Green must demonstrate his mantle and persevere in the face of the approaching difficulty.
