“Crushed it whether he’s cr*zy or faking it,” Sean O’Malley compares showman Ryan Garcia to NEW rival and ‘character’ Conor McGregor

Reigning bantamweight king Sean Oโ€™Malley and pro-boxer Ryan Garcia have long discussed a crossover bout. Another commonality they have is their reverence for UFC superstar Conor Mcgregor. However, they now find themselves in that weird place between rock and rock bottom. While they respect the philanthropic McGregor as a mentee, his callouts are stumbling for them. Amidst all these, โ€˜Sugaโ€™ weighs in on Garcia.

American YouTuber and well-known fitness influencer Bradley Martyn has had a lengthy trend of making callouts. Martyn has allegedly even called out Israel Adesanya over a mundane story. In light of that, Martyn asked Sean Oโ€™Malley on his โ€œRaw Talkโ€ Podcast if the beef with Garcia held any merit.

There’s no easy fight [other] than Ryan Garcia. [On if there is a ‘real’ beef] Uh, I don’t knowโ€ฆI enjoyed [his] build-upโ€ฆHe crushed it. Whether he’s cr*zy or faking it, I enjoyed itโ€ฆWhat he has been posting, how he has been acting after. I’m there for it! The reason I love Conor [McGregor] so much is that he’s such a ‘character,’ he’s a different personalityโ€ฆSo, Ryan is doing that right now. But can’t think of an actual beef.

Ryan Garcia (25-1, 20 KO) recently edged out formerly undefeated WBC super-lightweight Devin Haney in a DAZN pay-per-view bout. However, in the lead-up, he engaged in a whole lot of social media antics. It ranged from crying foul at satanic cultists out to get him to flirtatious messages to top influencer celebrities. At his pre-fight conference at the Palladium, Garcia even admitted to being drunk during an interview.

Later, โ€˜King Ryโ€™ revealed much of it was a ploy to distill confidence and build up to the spectacular upset of Haney. Sean Oโ€™Malley lauds the showmanship, comparing it to Conor McGregorโ€™s cardinal virtue of whipping a trash-talking scenario. McGregor boasts some of the best verbal tirades and lively antics in the promotionโ€™s history, a certain gall even Garcia is exhibiting. โ€˜Sugaโ€™ sees much promise in their build-up.

Sean Oโ€™Malley thinks Conor McGregorโ€™s callouts were a mix of substance-fueled jealousy and egotism

Conor McGregor, Sean Oโ€™Malley, and Ryan Garcia have engaged in a vicious triangle of absurd callouts. For โ€˜Sugaโ€™ and Garcia, it makes sense to do so. โ€˜King Ryโ€™ is on a 2-0 streak and is considerably the most popular boxer in the super lightweight category. Meanwhile, Oโ€™Malley (18-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) recently snagged his maiden defense in Miami and rectified his lone career skid.

However, McGregor only had a cordial relationship with the younger talents as a mentor. He even took a liking to Oโ€™Malleyโ€™s hammering ground-and-pound over Aljamain Sterling to win the gold. It mimicked his ground-and-pound at UFC 194 to win his first title gold. Recently, the Irishman unloaded on Garcia and even invoked โ€˜Sugaโ€™ on doping violation claims against the boxer.

To be honest, I wanna kinda hate him [Conor]โ€ฆI have even tried to on Twitter. But you know, cocaine’s a hell of a drugโ€ฆyou know, shadow box in the bathroom and club [kind of scenario]โ€ฆI get itโ€ฆI think it was a lot of jealousy. He’s starting to get pushed out, I’m starting to come upโ€ฆThere’s no other reason toโ€ฆi have always praised himโ€ฆ

Aย Voluntary Anti-Doping Associationย (VADA) letter put forward that Garcia tested positive for Ostarine & 19-Norandrosterone. McGregor called him and Oโ€™Malley out to get their head in the game or perish trying. He had even ominously offered up his Black Forge Inn to duke it out. As an avid MMA promoter, it seemed like he was pushing a crossover stint at the time.

However, the bantamweight champ believes that it was just a substance-fueled mannerism. McGregor makes his return at UFC 303โ€™s headlining pay-per-view event (ESPN+) on June 29 after a 3-year layoff. Sean Oโ€™Malley believes a washout McGregor has just grown a distaste for his rising fame. As such, he is ready for such a challenge.
