Conor McGregor is by far one of the greatest combat sports phenoms living. A former two-division titleholder, business entrepreneur, MMA promoter, political aspirant, and even Hollywood star, he does it all. Many praise him to the moon. However, hearing it from the often outspoken Colby Covington is another entirely different matter.
‘Mystic Mac’ returns on full blast in a 5-round welterweight main feature at UFC 303. After returning to the 170-pound scene for the second time, Colby Covington had to field questions about being his rival. There were even rumors that he would be the backup for UFC 303. Covington refuted this while speaking on his rivalry with Ian Garry. Nonetheless, he’s all praises for the Irishman.

Freak MMA (@freak.mma) is usually prone to reminiscing about McGregor through IG reels. Back in April, Dana White sent fans into a frenzy, teasing a return by reposting one such post. Even McGregor himself likes such posts and trinkets about himself. Now, he has liked a snippet from Covington’s interview praising him on their IG page.
Since last year, ‘Chaos’ has been expecting to fight McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) if he could have dethroned the current welterweight champion. In an interview with All Out Fighting, he even broke character to endorse the Irishman’s presidential aspirations. Now that McGregor has taken notice, one has to wonder about his intentions. Nevertheless, Covington will likely fight an Irishman sometime this year.

Welterweight Ian Garry remains at a standstill. Ian Garry’s quest for a fight with Colby Covington has found nothing but disappointment. Rumors of the two facing off in the co-main event of UFC 303 spread like wildfire; ‘Chaos,’ however, decided to tear him anew and deny such claims.

With Covington randomly shifting focus to Khamzat Chimaev, Leon Edwards, and others, so does Garry. However, his name is a blast from the past – Michael ‘Venom’ Page. During his recent sitdown with Adam Catterall of talkSPORT MMA, he had to weigh in on Michael ‘Venom’ Page. Garry didn’t waste a breath in informing fans about accepting a fight against MVP.
I can only fight down in the rankings, and this is where I’ve got to show that I will fight anyone…I’ve said yes! I’ve said yes to that name [Page]…Him and his coaches are deciding because he feels a bit heavy. He’s a bit heavy to make, to make weight in seven weeks’ time. But I’ve said yes.

Ian Garry reveals that the UFC has offered him fights against Colby Covington, Sean Brady, Michael ‘Venom’ Page, Joaquin Buckley and Nursulton Ruziboev.
He says he’s agreed to all of them, but none of them have agreed yet.

Garry (14-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC) said Colby Covington is still healing from his broken foot and won’t be recovered until September. For the Irish welterweight, it’s UFC 303 or nothing. Garry has received callouts from relatively new MVP before. While he dismissed those, he’s now ready to fight his way down the rankings to show he is ready for everyone. However, his demands for a co-main fight at UFC 303 might not pass, with Page being just 1-0 in his run. There’s yet to be any official news on the front.
