UFC and Conor McGregor have done big business together, which saw the Irish fighter turn into a megastar. The 36-year-old mixed martial artist still holds the pole position as their best PPV hero, topping past and current champions. Now stepping into the next leg of his career, McGregor seems to have distanced himself from fighting and MMA ever since striking gold with the Floyd Mayweather bout.

After being away from the fighting world, it looks like Logan Paul has found himself in McGregor’s crosshairs now. Conor McGregor, in recent times, has faced a lot of backlash post civil trial verdict, which saw him losing millions.

The Irish star is now hoping to turn over a new leaf to regain a place in the fighting world with a mega announcement. In a latest post on X, the former UFC champion made a breathtaking announcement featuring Paul, an exhibition boxing fight, and one of India’s richest families, the Ambanis.

The groundbreaking news is taking the MMA world by storm as certain fans dubbed it a fall from grace. Point to be noted, the Irish star is currently signed with UFC and still has a couple of fights left. Given the stringent nature of the UFC’s contracts, McGregor will have a hard time living up to his proclaimed agreement. Despite the heavy backing of India’s wealthiest family, this matchup would be difficult to book without bringing the UFC onboard.

The UFC star showcased interest in fighting early in 2025, but White seems to have other ideas. Meanwhile, Logan Paul has expressed his desire to fight the Irish mixed martial artist back in 2019 before turning to WWE. However, there is a younger Paul brother, who has showcased intrigue in fighting Conor McGregor in MMA.

McGregor hasn’t been at the center of just one Paul brother’s attention ever since taking to boxing. The Maverick’s younger brother, Jake Paul, recently extended a callout to face the UFC star. ‘The Problem Child’ has been making waves in the realm of boxing by defeating many UFC legends. After his last outing against ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson, Jake has now shifted his focus to McGregor.

Paul is currently signed with rival promotion PFL and hasn’t competed in MMA yet. The 27-year-old is hoping to book his next big outing against UFC’s PPV king. He took to X to share his thoughts on the potential matchup and even dared to step into MMA to fight McGregor. Paul went one step further to remove weight classes from the equation, resorting to the old-school ways of the UFC.

Dear Conor, I know you told my team you would fight me at 170lbs. That’s never happening. But let’s run it in MMA. No weight class. Just like how it used to be done. But you won’t

Naturally, his callout indeed ruffled some feathers of UFC legends, who didn’t like it one bit. Former UFC star Rampage Jackson took note of the callout and offered to box him instead. It is not certain whether the Paul vs. McGregor fight will ever take place. However, White seemed to offer no comments in the aftermath of the civil case verdict or McGregor’s future. Furthermore, the UFC chief seemed confident of his star’s return in the last quarter of 2025.
