Colin Cowherdย has boldly claimed that the Miami Dolphins will have a better season than the Buffalo Bills because of their defensive-minded coach, Sean McDermott. It seems that Mcdermott leading the Bills to four straight playoffs doesnโt really count for much in the eyes of Cowherd.
The ongoing saga surrounding Trevon Diggs and his constant absence, first from the OTAs and then the Minicamp, is dragging McDermott in. On Tuesday, after the camp wrapped up, the media asked the coach about Diggsโ situation, to which he simply replied that he โwas concerned.โ
McDermott didnโt clarify what concerned him so much; however, quarterback Josh Allen shed some light, saying there are some problems on and off the field and they are fixing them. Diggs himself hasnโt made any clarifications on the matter besides some cryptic social media messages.
FOX Sports 1โs โHerdโย host Colin Cowherd was in full form on the June 14th episode as he took a swipe at McDermott. โItโs Sean McDermottโs last chance,โ said Cowherd. โI saw him get outcoached by Miamiโs Mike McDaniels three times.โ
Moreover, the fiery pundit explained that the Bills were building something special that could take on the Dolphins and the Chiefs in the AFC East. However, according to him, they took a step back by appointing McDermott.
Cowherd called McDermott โrigidโ and โtone-deaf,โ as his way of thinking is backward compared to other more aggressive coaches. Even though the Bills are always near and about the playoffs, Cowherd believes McDermott is the one keeping them from winning a Super Bowl.
Funny enough, just one year ago, Cowherd listed McDermott as one of the top eight coaches in the NFL.

Are the Dolphins really capable enough to go toe to toe with the Bills?
Cowherd may be on to something as to why the Bills are struggling. He singled McDermott out because he believes the Bills, with Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs, are already a Super Bowl-worthy team. According to him, itโs the passive nature of McDermott thatโs limiting them to only the playoffs.
โWith a rigid defensive coach, canโt get the offensive line right. Last year, if you took out Josh Allenโs rush yards, he was running too much and getting hit too much,โย Cowherd complained.
According to him, if the Bills keep running the same method again this year, they will lose more and win less. Their regional rivals, the Dolphins, with defensive coordinator Vic Fangio at the helm, are capable of stopping the Bills attacks.
ESPN analystย Louis Riddickย certainly has faith in Fangio. If thatโs the reality, then the Bills will have to switch things up next season.
