Trash talk is an integral part of UFC and its fighters. Colby Covington is one of the most polarizing figures in the promotion. His infamous antics remain a surefire way to get attention. Recently, he set his trash-talking sirens towards none other than his rival Ian Garry.

Covington believed Garry’s UFC 303 performance against 37-year-old Michael Page was extremely bad. He, however, didn’t stop there. Covington went on a verbal rampage against his rival, picking him apart with his signature style of trash talk.

Anyone can be 15-0 fighting a bunch of 15 bums… the fans got robbed of a PPV opener. That was pathetic, that guy is fighting the number 14th-ranked guy in the world and barely scraping by.

Covington’s main gripe was Ian Garry‘s decision to win over Michael “Venom” Page at UFC 303. The fight was not as advertised, with minimal action and very few significant strikes landed. Nevertheless, Garry did showcase some improved grappling skills. Covington believed that Garry lost the fight, a sentiment shared by many others. UFC CEO Dana White had revealed that he had scored the fight as a draw.

As of now, the past is past, and Garry’s record remains untarnished. The rivalry between these two will surely simmer again. Garry had previously called out Covington for an “I Quit” match, WWE style. The fight, of course, did not materialize. Whether the UFC sees the worth in a Covington vs. Garry bout as a Fight Night headliner or a PPV co-main event remains to be seen.

Garry was recently interviewed on The MMA Hour, days before the UFC 303 event. The young Irish fighter revealed his willingness to fight Covington at UFC 303 but received no answer from ‘Chaos.’ The Irish welterweight now thinks that Covington would never sign the contract to fight with him.

I don’t know, sitting here right now, if I ever believe that he will accept a fight with me. I think Colby Covington looks at me and I think he sees the end of his career.

Covington had hurled insults at Garry’s wife, adding fuel to the fire. Garry apparently stands ready to face Covington. At the UFC 303 post-fight press conference, UFC CEO Dana White shut down rumors that Covington had declined to fight Garry. This adds another layer of intrigue between these two. Who is telling the truth? Who is ducking the fight? Only these two and the UFC brass know.
