Colby Covington advises 'short pipsqueak' Michael Chandler to move on from Conor McGregor money fight

The former UFC welterweight champion, Colby Covington, has been very active on social media lately. He is widely known for his controversial trash talk. Recently, he mocked Michael Chandler, calling him a “short pipsqueak.”

Covington has not fought since last December, but he has been doing many interviews during his time away. In these interviews, he has made several derogatory remarks about his fellow competitors. This is not the first time Covington has made the news for provoking other fighters.

In a recent interview with Submission Radio, Covington made several comments about Michael Chandler sitting out just to fight Conor McGregor in a grand event.

He (Michael Chandler) needs to move on with his business. It’s pretty sad, he looks like a f**king desperate little bum right there, just begging Conor to give him a fight. It’s an easy fight (if he gets the chance to fill in McGregor’s spot). You know, the little short pipsqueak’s going to get f**king knocked out cold.

Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler were set to have a big fight at a scheduled event. However, McGregor had to pull out due to unforeseen circumstances. As a result, Chandler is currently without a scheduled fight. For this upcoming match against Conor McGregor, Chandler moved up to the 170-pound weight class, where Colby Covington is a notable fighter who might be interested in facing him.

Covington himself has not fought in a while and has been seeking a tough opponent. Before Chandler, he had expressed interest in fighting Charles Oliveira and Ian Garry, but so far, none of the fighters have responded to Covington’s attempts to arrange a match. Covington advises Chandler to move on from the idea of a money fight with Conor McGregor and look for other potential fighters.

Colby Covington’s return to the octagon is still unknown

Colby Covington’s most recent fight was against the current welterweight champion, Leon Rocky Edwards at UFC 296. Covington lost the fight via unanimous decision. After the fight, he caused confusion on social media by claiming that his loss to Leon Edwards was due to an injury, specifically one he sustained in the first 30 seconds of the fight. Following that loss, he has not returned to the octagon yet.

However, Covington expressed his dire want to fight anybody at 170 on several occasions. Since both Covington and Chandler are without a scheduled fight, a match between them might be something to look forward to. The UFC has now an ample number of options to book fights. It will be interesting to see the matchups for the upcoming events.
