At one point, there were even talks of AEW releasing Punk after continued rebellious notion from talent backstage.
However, Tony Khan didn’t pull the trigger under any sort of influence as he knew how vital Punk can be for their growth. After hustling for months, the Jaguars owner figured out a way to bring back CM Punk to their programming without troubling his roster. In this way, the idea for a new weekly episodic show of AEW came into existence. Finally, that 3rd series named Collision is set to premiere this Saturday, June 17.
It will feature the impending AEW return of CM Punk. For the first time since that infamous media scrum, the Chicago native shows up where it all started for him in 2020 – the United Centre. Unlike last time, the arena isn’t even close for being a complete sellout. Leaving that aside for the moment, a discussion needs to be held. That should concern Punk’s potential words he’s expected to utter this Saturday.
During this week’s Dynamite, AEW aired a hype return vignette for Punk. In that, he teased a lot of things that are needed to get off his chest. Interestingly, he’s got some scores to settle and the best part is, he himself can’t figure out what he’s going to say that night. Whatever the case might be, June 17 marks one of the most important dates in AEW history and they need to make it count.
CM Punk is also set to wrestle this week

He’ll team up with FTR to take on Jay White, Juice Robinson and Samoa Joe. This came after a trusted report from Fightful stating Jay White as CM Punk’s handpicked preference for his return programme.
Apart from this, AEW is quickly motoring towards their crossover event with NJPW, the Forbidden Door pay-per-view. Making his return around a week in prior, Punk is heavily expected to compete at the namesake event. As far as his opponent is concerned, it’s believed that he’ll get to wrestle someone he shares a past with, the Strong Openweight Champion KENTA.
