Chael Sonnen was recently inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. In classic Sonnen fashion, ‘The American Gangster’ addressed the audience during his Hall Of Fame induction speech. Sonnen recalled an interesting incident that happened a while back in the same city of Las Vegas.
Chael Sonnen went on stage to give a memorable Hall of Fame speech. He called back to the 2021 incident at the Las Vegas Four Seasons Hotel where he ended up getting sued for attacking a handful of people including an employee inside the hotel. Now, a couple of years later he was getting inducted into the UFC Hall Of Fame in that same city.

Initially charged with multiple counts of battery, including a felony, Sonnen reached a plea deal in July 2023. He pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of breaching the peace and was fined $750. The charges were reduced from earlier allegations, which included battery by strangulation and misdemeanor battery.
Chael Sonnen’s professional MMA career earned him a record of 31 wins, 17 losses, and 1 draw. He competed in the middleweight and light heavyweight divisions in notable promotions like the UFC and Bellator. ‘The American Gangster’ faced top competitors such as Anderson Silva, Jon Jones, Michael Bisping, and Wanderlei Silva. Chael Sonnen and Conor McGregor engaged in memorable banter during the lead-up to UFC Fight Night Machida vs. Munoz in 2013. The two UFC stars exchanged witty verbal jabs during a Q&A session. One of the things that Sonnen trolled McGregor about was his slim-fit trousers.

He later sent out another tweet saying how Sonnen had copied the former double champion. The two have never had a rivalry per se, although in recent times they have gone back and forth with each other. Sonnen even publicly challenged Conor McGregor to a boxing match as of late. Recently, Sonnen also claimed that the reason McGregor pulled out of UFC 303 was because he was in rehab for alcohol and drug addiction. Later, he took back his words.
