Although NBA drama never ends, the Miami Heat have gained attention for unexpected reasons. Former NBA players Tony Allen, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett all jumped in to talk about Jimmy Butler‘s actions, which have become a hot topic. However, Pierce thinks otherwise as he backed Butler and blasted Pat Riley for his actions regarding this situation.

Jimmy Butler, who has now spent as many seasons in Miami as he did in Chicago, appears to be at the end of his patience with Riley’s tendency to run out his superstars. Paul Pierce thinks Riley can’t give his best players their roses because of a disconnect between them. He even made a strong point regarding former NBA players, Shaquille O’Neal and LeBron James‘ time with the Heat.

Once I get whatever I got out of you, you can get the f**k out of here. That’s what Pat Riley’s mentality is! Shaq I got a chip out of you, who gives a F**k about him. LeBron, alright, get out of the way, you too! Once I get what I want out of you… kick rocks… It ain’t no loyalty in that.

On the other hand, Pierce’s partner, Kevin Garnett, thinks otherwise. He backed Riley over Butler in this case. Garnett is putting aside his previous conflict with Riley and accusing Butler of causing the situation. Butler’s actions don’t quite fit Riley’s conventional leadership style, according to Garnett. The former Celtics star even went so far as to discuss the Heat’s top office’s response to Butler’s behavior.

Garnett recognizes the value of intensity and is well-known for his passionate play on the floor and his fierce trash language. However, he made it apparent that Pat Riley’s management style does not put up with what he considers “extra stuff,” particularly from players of a younger generation like the Heat star, Jimmy Butler.

Pat Riley gave the NBPA a 10 page letter regarding Jimmy Butler suspension

When the Miami Heat punished Jimmy Butler for seven games, the conflict between the two sides reached a breaking point. The Heat’s annoyance with Butler’s actions and the worsening relationship between the two parties is evident in the ban.

This was reportedly supported by a comprehensive 10-page letter and accompanying video sent to the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) by Heat President Pat Riley.

I know [Pat Riley] gave [the NBPA] a 10 page letter and I know he gave them some film to show them why he suspended him.

When rumors circulated throughout the offseason that Butler was dissatisfied with the Heat’s unwillingness to extend his deal, the conflict started. Riley’s post-season remarks demoralized Butler, who thought his performances had earned a big extension. Many teams are in for the signing of Butler if the Heat decide to trade him in the coming weeks.
