So, Barkley, who’s happily hitched since 1989 (way before swiping right was a thing), casts a skeptical eye on the dating app scene. He pointed out that dating apps were a hoax primarily because most of the profiles on there are catfishes. He declares on the Steam Room Podcast:
First of all, these dating apps—none of these people look like they’re supposed to look… You can’t show a picture when you were hot in high school or college. The picture has to be within a three-month window. Don’t put a picture when you used to be hot and you’re not anymore.
But Chuck didn’t just stop at photos. He dove headfirst into all the boringly basic bios with people expressing their love for movies, and traveling. What does he want instead? A spark of individuality, a dash of fun in those profiles to truly mirror who the person actually is.
Beneath the laughter, Charles Barkley’s message was clear: Authenticity is key. Barkley’s jest about pets in dating profiles? Priceless. He said:
Nobody saw a hot chick and said, ‘Hey, what about the dog?’
