Conor McGregor appears to be looking for opportunities outside of the UFC for his eventual comeback. After losing out on the chance at UFC 303, McGregor seems to be desperate to go back into action. With UFC prolonging the process, the โ€˜Notoriousโ€™ has taken matters into his own hands and called boxing world champion Terence Crawford.

During a recent livestream, McGregor mentioned receiving the offer to fight Crawford for a two-fight deal. McGregor mentioned that the multidivisional boxing champion didnโ€™t want to enter the MMA octagon. Crawford also confirmed the details of the conversation and hilariously shared his reasons for rejecting the offer.ย

They called me and they offered me the fight and me and Conor got on the phone and started trying to figure something out. And I told him, โ€˜Man I ainโ€™t getting into no octagon with you so you can be kicking me and elbow me and sh*tโ€ฆ.He was like, โ€˜But weโ€™ll make a sh*t ton of money.โ€™ I said, โ€˜Yeah, sometimes it ainโ€™t about the money.โ€™ I can make money, but you ainโ€™t about to be kicking me, dude.ย

Terence Crawford may feel comfortable rejecting McGregor since he has been focused on a different superfight. He appears to be eager to face Canelo Alvarez, although the Mexican superstar has turned down his offers. Itโ€™s still being determined whether the Mexican boxer will ever fight him. However, the hype behind the fight is massive and can do great business.

Conversely, McGregor experienced a massive success with his first boxing venture againstย Floyd Mayweatherย in 2017. Despite the loss, McGregor took home north of $100 million and sold the second-biggest PPV event in combat sports history. The โ€˜Mystic Macโ€™ is eager to replicate the same success with or without UFC.

Conor McGregorโ€™s UFC future is bleak?

Conor McGregorโ€™s eagerness to comeback was visible when he asked Dana White to make the fight in December. White wasnโ€™t sure and later promised early 2025 to be the ideal timeline. However, McGregor was definitely not a fan of this delay and even talked about a closing deal with the promotion.

McGregorโ€™s scheduled opponent, Michael Chandler, has finally given up on the โ€˜red panty nightโ€™ and accepted to fight Charles Oliveira. In a recent interview, White was asked whether McGregor would fight Chandler in his return fight. While responding to the question, the UFC boss didnโ€™t give any solid answer.

I have no ideaโ€ฆ Conor will fight in 2025. However it plays out as we lead up to him being ready, I have no clue.

Despite the inactivity, McGregor is still the biggest UFC superstar in the world and has many options. Recently, the newly crowned welterweight champion Belal Muhammad also agreed to give the Irishman a title shot. However, McGregorโ€™s antics donโ€™t necessarily help fans and experts to trust his comeback promises.ย
