Patrick Beverley, on his podcast Pat Bev Pod, reflected on his rookie experience with LeBron James during his time with the Miami Heat. When asked if he’d give LeBron’s son, Bronny James, a tough time as a rookie, Beverley playfully responded that Bronny would be the one he’d “cuff,” referencing the frustrating treatment he endured from LeBron during his own rookie days.
Beverley recalled a specific instance where LeBron James sent him on multiple errands to fetch drinks, only to reject each one until Beverley became frustrated and brought LeBron every drink in a big bucket.
Beverley playfully implied that he would repay Bronny with similar treatment, suggesting that he’d make Bronny run similar errands as a form of rookie hazing.

Although Patrick Beverley crossed paths with LeBron James with his brief tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2022-23 season, which would have provided the opportunity to live this reality with Bronny. However, Bronny was not yet a part of the league at that time.
Fortunately Bronny was a No. 55 pick in the 2024 NBA draft for the Lakers after Beverley had moved to play overseas, making Beverley’s lighthearted threat to give Bronny a hard time as a rookie may remain unfulfilled.
Bronny James set to play in G league showcase
The Los Angeles Lakers 20-year-old rookie is set to be at the G league showcase schedule for December 19th to 22nd in Orlando Florida. The showcase has been one of the most important events on the G League calendar, with personnel from all 30 NBA teams in attendance to scout the talent on display.
It would be a good stage for the in form guard who has been having good performances for the South Bay. averaging 20.7 points on 43.1% shooting (26.3% from 3) with 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists over his past three games for South Bay.
LeBron during his eight days leave from the court mentioned he took advantage of the time to watch his son’s performance in the G league sharing words of encouragement to his son telling him to keep stacking the days, keep putting in work, and the work would always prevails at the end.
During his time playing for the G league, Bronny has shown maturity and talent to prove that he deserves his place in the league.
