Heavyweight contender, Jailton Almeida has his eyes on UFC Paris in September. A showdown against Cyril Gane is the perfect matchup he is looking for. However, it looks like “Bon Gamin” is not ready to fight a main event against Almeida. Supposedly, because it would be a tough outing for the Frenchman.

Jailton Almeida recently did an interview with MMA Fighting. During the discussion, Almeida talked about how he saw this fight go inside the octagon. He is also sure that it is going to be a very interesting matchup.

There’s no way this fight would go the distance. If I can impose my game, I will take him down and submit him. If he can impose his game, he will do everything he can to keep it on the feet and put on the show he’s used to.

Almeida’s last fight was at UFC 302, against Alexandr Romanov which he ended in the first round. According to the Brazilian, he is the only fight for Gane that makes sense since all other top-ranked heavyweights are currently unavailable.

Almeida said that the only options for Gane now are himself and Alexander Volkov. However, Gane already defeated Volkov back in 2021. The Brazilian described it as a “slow-paced and very boring fight”. According to him, his fight with Gane would be way more interesting, because of the different fighting styles.

Jailton Almeida revealed that supposedly the UFC is not interested in putting up the fight because based on style, it would be a bad matchup. However, the Brazilian does not think so. He talked about how Gane had beaten Serghei Spivac last year and how Spivac’s style was similar to his.

Almeida believes the UFC always tries to make the best fights possible. As such, he highlighted how he fought Curtis Blaydes, who was one of the worst matchups for him, but the UFC still made it happen. Now he is doing everything to make his fight against Cyril Gane happen.

My manager has talked to the UFC about my interest in this fight, I personally talked to Mick about this fight, and I’ve called out Gane on social media. I’m just waiting for this fight to happen.

Almeida said now it is in the hands of the UFC and Gane. The Frenchman has lost on only two occasions against juggernauts such as Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou. Almeida, on the other hand, wishes to stay active and believes the fight could be a title eliminator and make him next in line for the belt. As of now, Renato Moicano and Benoit Saint-Denis are currently expected to headline the main event at UFC Paris.
